I think that was intended to say 1 1/4 minus. Inch and a quarter minus, not just quarter minus.

No, 1/4" minus is correct. It is like very coarse sand and is often used as a base for flagstones or pavers. 1 1/4' minus is far too large for this purpose.....it is actually a rough gravel, like for driveways.

My contractor just laid an extension to my patio for me and 1/4" minus is what he used as a base. When tamped down properly, this is a very firm base for any hardscaping.

I used to buy 'Grand' from Lakeside Sand and Gravel in Covington. Smaller than pea gravel and larger than sand. That must have been 1/4. Works great! I even used it on my gravel driveway up by the house. It packed in real nice.

Yep. Thanks GG. I meant 1/4 minus. I did 3/4 minus as a base and then an inch of 1/4 minus.

Looking good old so far and I think the drainage will be awesome too.
