DIY Cherry/Soapstone Kitchen Progress 10 months

Just have to share some excitement! Still a lot more to do before we install cabs, but this weekend we are installing our ventahood range hood and I pulled out some of the cabs to do a dry fit.

My heart is a flutter (note we actually started designing this kitchen and ordered the cabs back in Jan 2015)

It finally feels like we are making some headway on this house !!!

Can you supply some finish info? Like clearcoat name with sheen level and uv protection.

Dan, they are Kraftmaid Durham In Honey Spice. The second pic is more representative of the color, but they will def darken up several tones. Still gorgeous though.

Good for you for doing it yourselves. It looks great. what are you doing for the floor? We splurged on a ventahood in our fairly modest kitchen and have never regretted it. Can't wait for more pics.

Ma wizz I've been enjoying seeing your kitchen finishes, ima a total junkie.

I took the weekend off to install our hood, glad to hear it Daisy, ventahood was one of my gardenweb finds along with our bluestar.

This was our scratch and sent eBay find, love it becasuse it has the dual blowers AND its's 27" deep.

Cannot WAIT to test drive my new wok.

Just wanted to give an update. Hopefully finishing up installing cabinets in the island, dw end panel and corner sink in the next few days. Kitchen is functioning currently without sink(s) but I'm so happy to have my stove back.

Still have at least 8 to 12 weeks worth of work to go. But we're getting there!

    What's the flooring?

Thanks Nancy, you're too sweet. Seriously sometimes I do post on here just because I know you all 'get it'.

lazy gardens, it's a discontinued porcelain tile from lowes (ivetta black) . I work there, so I am a patient deal shopper. No grout yet (except under the stove) and it needs to be cleaned, I'm a pretty messy tiler.

I was hoping you would post and update! Wow you've done a lot! Looks great. Love the earthy colors and contrast of dark floors with the light wood cabinetry. Very cool. So great to have a range to cook I bet. Looks like your doing an island? Will your sink be there?

I finished installing the island cabinets Friday before work. We will have a prep sink there and a then a clean up sink in the corner (e.g. for soaking all my baking, roaster pans) Definitely have gw to thank for the two sinks, hehe.
