A few new pictures from today
Just strolling around my garden, taking some photos.
Here is Blue Jay, growing really well this year. Starting to put out some flowers. Am I correct that the sun is doing a number on Blue Jay's waxy coating? Seems a bit melted-looking today.
Keeping company with Blue Jay is my potted Paisley Print. It is doing wonderfully this year, and now starting to flower. Those cast concrete rocks forming the garden edge are 12" each 4 rock section, to give you an idea of the size of PP.
I don't know if I'm going to have to break up this happy quartet next year. The limey green giant in the back is Appletini. To its left, doing its best EVER, is Cracker Crumbs. The little beauty at the bottom is Pure Heart, and peeking shyly from under Appletini's leaves is teeny Cameo, its best year yet. The pot is 18" across, for scale.
Here is a chorus line of pink and red astilbe, keeping company with Royal Tiara at the left.
Here's a closeup of the pink astilbe flowers, just because they are sooo pretty.

Yes, Kathy, that is part of the soaker hose system I just finished. I buried 3/8" I.D. soaker hose in a wavy pattern in my garden, passing within 12" of every plant. Fortunately, the space between the 2 concrete divisions of the sidewalk leading up to the building was a bit generous, and allowed me to place the soaker hose (with that section run through a piece of tough clear vinyl tubing to make it non-porous) in that groove and run it over to the second section of the garden on the other side.
I ordered all the necessary connectors and clear UV resistant temperature resistant tubing for the container soaker system from USPlastic.com, who has EVERYTHING, including many types of tubing, connectors, bags, etc. I got 1/4" I.D. micro soaker hose online from Home Depot (not in stores).
I devised my own system of using barbed reducing tees going from the 3/8" I.D. of the main soaker hose down to the 1/4" I.D. of the micro soaker hose, going round in a circle within the inner perimeter of my containers. I used a 1/4" 90 degree elbow from the clear non-porous tubing coming off the reducing tee from the main soaker hose, put a 1/4" tee connector into it, and used short sections of the easier-to-manipulate clear tubing over the barbed connection. I then inserted the ends of the circular section of micro soaker hose into the 2 arms of the tee. Here is a diagram I made to show it more clearly.
