I think you mean something like this? I think you have enough depth there for the rod, and take it just to the width of the windows. Then your curtains should hang straight. Disguise the wiring doodads with a tall plant.

I agree with carrolltf ditch the curtains but if you insist hang rod outside as suggested by rina and have the entire curtin stack back on the left where you have wall space

Are the curtains being used for privacy? If yes, then you may want to rehang the drapes on the outside of the opening or reconsider the header style of the drape. One reason why the rod has to hang lower, is that the the drapes are grommet style and need 1-1.5" clearance above the top of the rod. You might reconsider the drapes and the style at the top. There are tracks that mount on the ceiling. Also, a ripplefold drape hangs right below the track.

Thanks everyone. Yes we do have a nice view and without curtains we have lots more light, but it is more privacy/security thing. I like Rina and outshopping422 ideas. Thanks so much everyone.

You seem to have a nice view and if privacy is not an issue, personally, I would loose the curtains in favor of full view. Wall to wall, will only accentuate the imbalance, albeit, it would cover those wires... Where is the TV going anyway? Could you route those through the wall, right behind the TV? As for the recessed area of the windows, I would dress it up with a nice, continuous trim, to frame both windows & door as one unit; use same trim vertically between windows and door sides. Clad the recess in wood, including the left narrow wall and with some creativity, you might be able to burry the wires under the wood plank. On the right side (wall paper), continue the wood to the width of the left wall. And install crown, if not in the entire room, at least on that wall. Not sure if that wall is painted a different color, it seems a shade darker, but it looks too fragmented and just emphasizes the imbalance. OR, instead of wood, continue the wall paper into the niche and to the left of window (narrow wall) and do the crown. The niche being lower than the ceiling, makes it look like an after-thought. Bring a tall, slim, dense foliage plant in the left corner. Good luck with your project.
