Location 2. It think it looks better and functions better. The cabinets look beautiful!

Thanks for the responses everybody. Another option that popped into my mind that I think makes a lot of sense is to center a handle on the lower panel as such. I think a knob just gets a little lost on that big panel.

Agree - I would do a pull, not a knob.

Put the knob at center. Once you drill and hate the pull, .......it's a major production of fixing and a respray of the door entirely. It's a door. Once the fridge is alongside, you will not be as focused on this door . I hope you didn't drill.....: )

Hi Jan, thanks for your comment. Nothing has been drilled yet. The existing handles on the drawers below are 7.8" from tip to tip. So, I ordered another one of those as well as the same style in a larger size (10.8" tip to tip). So, in a few days I'll have a couple of handles and the original knob to eyeball. It is a good point though that once the rest of the kitchen is finished and the fridge installed, the door will fade into the background.

Take some painters tape and cut it to the different lengths (pulls and knobs) and see what size and what location looks best. I have found this very helpful.

I vote for the knob at location #1. It won't be floating there - it will be visually anchored to the center rail on the door. A vertical pull might look awkward.
