i don't like furs, but i really don't think they should be used as table cloths. other than that looks pretty.

HI -- Not bad ... maybe just have the sheep skin on a chair instead and remember to only get what you need for the room. Be careful to not clutter with too many little things . It looks comfortable and that is all that matters . Maybe add a small bookcase or holder and lighting if it is a reading room. Work towards having a pair of matching comfy chairs and an ottoman and not have so many different pieces or it starts looking like the case off room.

Looks so much better! I think a collection of sillouette pics would be a nice touch over the window.... just a thought!

Sorry I don't see this as eclectic, more dorm room. IMO the chairs & coffee table don't go with the other pieces that are older

Eclectic is the hardest style to pull off because it often ends up looking like a thrift store or Grandma's hand-me-downs rather than a space filled with objects curated over a lifetime.

I think your neutral chairs are fine, I love the desk you painted, even the turquoise table along with the turquoise vases that echo it, but there isn't much to tie the rest of your pieces together. You might start with blue pillows on the chairs. And I think you need a different rug, something one-of-a-kind, vintage probably.

I'm having trouble finding exactly the right rug, which is an indication of how difficult an eclectic room can be. This is a bit more cohesive than the current room...

I found the first article that tedbixby posted to be extremely informative and helpful. If you haven't taken the time or had a chance to read it yet, I highly recommend it. I think my style leans to eclectic too, so I'm going to use some of those strategies in my own space

I have a few gut reactions to your room. First, the coffee table seems dark and like it's sucking energy out of the space. You even tried covering it up in your first pic, so I think you sense that something about it is not working either. Go ahead and take it out! With the little turquoise table to set a drink or a book on, I'm not even sure you need a coffee table at all. I think it feel more spacious without it too. An ottoman or a pouf would be great so you can relax and put your feet up.

Second, bring some art down on the paneled walls. Right now, with everything above the paneling, it feels too constrained like you're coloring within the lines. I think being eclectic is more about breaking the rules and having some delightful elements of surprise. Your collection needs a little more room to breathe. Who says you can't bring art all the way down to the baseboard? Worth experimenting with I think.

I'd also like to see more layers and textures especially with fabrics. Once the coffee table is out, try bringing that faux fur back and putting it on the floor. It doesn't necessarily have to be centered on the rug. Or try draping it on one of the chairs. As the room develops, you'll also want to add more layers and fabrics with throws, window treatments, and maybe a different rug. These fabrics will also be a way to bring interesting patterns in—mix scale as you're mixing patterns.

And last, I think you need to define your color palette a little more. Color palettes are frequently inspired by a favorite piece of art, fabric, or rug. The key is that you really have to love it. What I'm seeing right now is that you really like blue. You've got some turquoise and royal blue in furniture. Blue gray on the walls and pillows. What other colors are you attracted too? I'd suggest adding one other neutral color, like white or cream to keep things light and soothing. And that could be it if you want. There's lots of examples of gorgeous rooms with just those 2 colors.

Or, add one more color. It could literally be any color you want. What popped into your head first? Pay attention to that. Now's the perfect time to play and explore since you're starting with just one small space.

And here's my last crazy idea, take that 3rd color, find pillows, art, and an accessory or two to bring in small touches of it and then paint the ceiling or window trim with that color. How cool would that be?

Something that helps me to shop when I'm doing eclectic is that I take one "style" such as tradition, contemporary, modern, etc and use that as my base in the majority of the main pieces. Then I shop for the other "eclectic" pieces once I have the base in place. With your space, I think the matching chairs are the start of a good base. I'd like to see that 60ish contemporary vibe base continue with the rug, lamps and the coffee table.

I also think the bead board and 2 tone walls are fighting with everything and is becoming a focus rather than the furnishings. Maybe consider getting rid of the bead board or paint the walls the same color.

i have been wondering i believe it is really a boho? and i had missed shot with uncovered table it is very heavy op.

I've been playing in your room. I noticed you had a wicker chair in there earlier, so I brought in another along with a kilim rug that seems to echo the pink tones in some of your art. I wasn't crazy about the art all being crammed above the wainscot, so I brought some of it down. I replaced your coffee table with a wicker ottoman, echoed the blue desk in a pillow, and added a black pulley lamp.

The color palette for the room now is the blue from the desk, teal from the side table, and rust and pinks from the rug.

Now Grover has taken it to a cottage (style) eclectic with those chairs and ottoman. And in this instance they work better with the 2 tone walls and bead board.

I could see a modern acrylic coffee table in Grover's mockup, too.

My first thought was that you were well on your way to a cottage look. Grover's last attempt bumped it up to cottage chic with a touch of eclectic. Edit the country feeling art pieces and keep going...
