Maybe charcoal is the name but this carpet does not look "charcoal" to me. I've used my photo program to sample the colors in your carpet. The hue is a yellow-orange with a lot of gray. You need to look for a warm gray such as Benjamin Moore's Silver Satin which has the same yellow-orange undertone.

I like to use virtual paint programs to initially sort through colors. Most manufacturers have them on their websites. After determining which colors you like best you should still buy samples to try out in your home. Lighting both during the day and at night can affect how colors look.

If you end up wanting something on the warm geige side I would suggest sampling edgecomb grey. I just used it in my mainfloor including living room and love it. Here's a photo of the many samples I tried - you can really see the difference. It might be my computer but the carpet looks more beige than charcoal so a warmer grey light seems like it might be nice.

I found and purchased a Behr premium paint with the name of Silver Polish. It goes on white and then dries to the most wondeful hint of gray. I am going to be a painting fool over the long weekend. Now I need to decide on a trim color.
