something dark like a navy on walls to make fireplace "POP" and with the white woodwork it would look amazing.

Are you not happy with the neutral color you presently have? It seems like it complements the fireplace stone well.

Why neutral color? Just asking for your thoughts. Let us know please. Need some more information and concerns.

I was thinking neutral because it connects to foyer and second story. At one point I was thinking an accent color on fireplace wall but wasn't thrilled with the brown I painted some samples of. This is a pic of the foyer

The color that is there is ok but the room is getting repainted - the other walls are the color of the foyer a lighter taupe/tan. I like color - a powder room off this room is BM Roasted Pepper and I love it. I would like this to be a classic lasting color as painting this space is pretty expensive so don't want a trendy color.

There are a lot of classic colors. I think they fall into a soothing, comfortable palette. Maybe that is the feeling that you are wanting. Although I've seen some strong pigments in classic hotels and mansions.

I don't think I'd like grays for the fireplace and I feel that gray will go out of trend. If some of the stone has gray, I would maybe use a silver gray or a warm gray. I like some undertones of warmth or some soothing cool colors that make you feel peaceful.

You can paint accent walls if there is an ending to the wall structure where it is divided visually by a right angle or other change in it where it may not be a very smooth connected plane. It would need an ending point somewhere in order not to continue the color.
