To All Our Florida Quilting Friends...

I just want to say please be safe and I'm hoping for the best for all of us. It looks like Florida is going to get hit for sure no matter what now. If it weren't for family, home and dog I would have headed up to relatives in WV a week ago. Unfortunately another year has gone by and my pleas to make some improvements in securing our windows has gone by unheeded. So earlier in the week I had to have a meltdown to convince DH that we needed to MOVE NOW to get some plywood since I was seeing it fly out of Lowes on Tuesday. So since he was working it was up to me to drive the pick-up and get it. Thank goodness they loaded it for me. I also had to get it for my son's house as he has been totally complacent about it all too. I know that even with all the preparations it can still turn out devastating but I would at least like to say we did everything we could ahead of time. I lived through Donna as a child and this one could be worse, I guess it made an impression on me.

You did the right thing Rita! I've not had the experience, but understand your perspective from friends who have lived through tornadoes and hurricanes. Will pray for your safety and all those in Irma's path. Hang in there!

And I hope you all escape damage and stay safe. Our little flood of last week makes me appreciate the seriousness of these storms.

We just had new windows installed in January that are supposed to be cat-3 rated. It looks like they may be getting tested this weekend!

We are NW of Orlando. We're staying home; we've gotten supplies and plan to stay home.

Rita, Donna, Sharon, and Kate, please be careful and let us know you are ok.

They keep moving the track and now it seems it will go right over my house when it gets to Alabama. Should be mostly wind, but we are under a tropical storm waning now.

Still ok in Winter Garden. It's rained all day with occasional wind. I think overnight and early tomorrow will be the worst for us.

I hope everyone has made it through the worst of Irma without any life-threatening situations. Repairs can be made to the house and such - although heartbreaking and expensive - but that beats not surviving. Prayers for all as you begin your recovery.
