I'm planning to buy FB Satin finished. I don't know if that's the same as leathered. I have had a large sample from the slab I ordered and I've been testing with various liquids, hot pans, general rough-ness and so far it has held up well. I am not overly careful, but I do clean up spills and always use trivets for hot pans, although this sample handles hot pans directly placed on it very well! Can you get a sample?

I would think the leathered would be better - less easy to see scratches and stains. I have antique brown granite leathered and it is my absolute favorite thing in the kitchen.

I'm not a FB owner, just admirer. :) The leathered finish is a slightly bumpy satiny smooth finish. It's gorgeous, shows the crystalline structure clearer (IMO at least) and the satin finish helps hide etching. I had a sample and didn't get any staining with it (wine, catsup, mustard...). Get samples and test them out at home, if you have time to.
