It has the most stunning leaf! I kept one for years but it never got that big. Lost it's leaves in winter. I finally tossed it because it took too much water. Why do you think yours grew so large?

Oh dear! I've been watching my Persian shield grow larger and larger, and I'm regretting planting it in a container! The companion plants are a black/purple alum lily and a black/purple dahlia, and u think the Persian shield is going to drown them out! After seeing your pic, I'm wondering if I should prune it back!

Once I started using Vigaro fert sold for palms? It just exploded. Some plants just love extra feeding. It was NEVER like this for years. I thought after last winter,when it shed 90+% of its leaves and some large branches died..it might die.

Many of my tropicals took extra long to get over last winter.
