Higher quality nursery furniture

Hi - we really like the designs of most Restoration Hardware nurseries but it seems like a lot of their furniture is not high quality & is therefore overpriced. I don't mind expensive if the quality is good. After all good quality furniture can be kept around for many years and used in many different rooms!

What are some companies that build decent furniture that can be used in a nursery? We have some items from Quatrine (Chicago) that are nice and we can probably get a rocking chair made from them. I really like the cribs at RH but am hesitant about their quality although this is one item that probably won't need as much longevity.

I would really appreciate ideas on where to get a good bookshelf, floorlamp, crib, rug, chair and dresser. Does Bloomingdales Home carry decent furniture?

Are you asking, "where does a person buy furniture?" ? Because there are many answers, but it will depend on where you live. I usually get book cases from Ikea, but I got my last set of couches from Macy's Home Store, another set of couches from a smaller local furniture store, and my bedroom set I found online and then visited in New York before ordering. Lamps and rugs are unlikely to vary as much in "quality" as you seem to think, so many many sources are good. I suggest just finding what's available locally and having a look -- all the above stores sell good stuff and cheaper stuff, but all of it is just fine for most folks.

Wow Wayfair has some nice styles / designs that we like. RH draws us because their "style" matches ours.

acm I was looking for companies that make good custom furniture or big stores that are worth looking into. For example Quatraine in Chicago is high quality furniture and nice. RH is overpriced or low quality according to many on these boards and others. That is the type of info I was pressing for. I will be more specific on future posts, thank you!

All cribs must meet strict safety standards and undergo rigorous testing in order to be sold. I would do due diligence and check the model number for recalls/customer reports of injury, but you can feel pretty confident that any new crib you purchase will be safe, regardless of where you buy it.
