I just realized that the textured tile didn't post. For some reason, I'm not able to add the on line photos of the Angela Adams - Forms by Ann Sachs and the Ore glass tile by Interstyle. The glass has 3 colors I like, onyx, barite and calcite. This is the 2nd time I have posted a very similar question. The first time helped me rule out the prior glass I choose as too busy, thus I'm still working on this and would again appreciate any suggestions.

My suggestion is to place the tiles in a color similar to the beautiful granite countertops
to provide continuity; I mean not to make so evident the difference of materials.
This could be combined with other light-colored tiles, which would give it more attractive.

would be perfect! in combination with dry rose, wild flowers, to give an example, or with any light colors in the catalog.

If you want to maintain a monochromatic theme so that any color can be used to accent, glass tile in light, luminous tones will incoporate the chrome and stainless in the kitchen. Be careful not to choose any grays that diminish the metallic details.

I love blue-green colors, particularly in tile, but it is a color choice. With those dark countertops, a combination of onyx, copper tone, metallic gray will pull all the tones together. A one-tone backsplash will look a lot like the walls you already have.

There's a couple of websites where you can design your backsplash, even with the color distortion of computer color, that will give you an idea of how various combinations would look.

Thanks inkwitch. I am not aware of websites that will allow me to design the backsplash. Can you post 1 or 2 of them as I would love to have a color visual. I'd really like to blend the Ann Sacks tile with the interstyle metallic glass tiles. My inclination is to stay away from Gray. The photos above don't really show it, but the granite has a warm caramel color that I really like and think the barite will accent nicely. I also like the way the calcite accents my cabinets.

Now that I've seen Ann Sacks tiles, I must say they are really wonderful and inspiring! I think they have what you need for your cooking dash, far from gray but in complete harmony!

what about a solid glass backsplash, no grout, will enhance the clean, modern look.

retroranch - I had initially ruled out a solid glass backsplash as being kind of "high maintenance". My kitchen is heavily used and not everyone is equally great about cleaning up. I am already finding my stainless steel appliances require a decent amount of maintenance due to finger prints.
Do you know if I'm making a bad assumption about keeping a glass backsplash looking nice?

I would think it would be easier maintenance, no grout to seal or worry about staining, just wipe and go. We went with a green glass vertical subway tile (the mint/aqua color), so that would be my second choice, it would echo your floor and the lines of the cabinets.
