You can't change the floor right now, that's fine. However, is your plan to change the floor in the future which would play a roll in your backsplash. If you plan on changing the floors and know what you lean toward I'd work with what you like for the counter with the granite you have which appears to be black. Do you know the name of the granite. I do think I know the granite, but the photo is not the best of the granite.

All in all, awaiting your answer I'd select the lightest tone from your counter and place that as a tile color on your backsplash. Nothing busy or crazy. Just a nice subdued subway in a longer linear subway or a typical size 3 to 4x6" subway which is a fairly timeless style and safe to work with.

Love your cabinets. Pick something light that's not busy.

If you plan on keeping the floor, I'd suggest you go with a small beige glass subway tile.

We think either of these would like nice.

You could do something that mostly ignores the floor, like a bottle green glass, or something relatively neutral, like a cream subway -- both of those would look fine and leave you plenty of options if and when you change the floor tile.

Ok so my granite is actually a super deep green but either lighting it looks more black for sure. It also has white pearl through it. Thanks for all the ideas and comments. Also I probably won’t be doing the floors before selling. What does everyone think about a stainless backsplash????

it's tough because your floor tones are warm. if you did a stainless, it might be too cool looking

you could try going w/a slate tile

or a slate w/stainless steel or glass

a black slate

a cream subway

or a green glass subway (you could do a darker green) to work w/the dark green counter.

Beth I’m kind of in love with the second pick you posted. It seems to reflect off the granite.

thats the earth tone slate. I think it's a good choice w/your cabs/flooring and dark granite. it comes in all sorts of shapes/sizes.

this is a ledger tile.(below) (you must use a penetrating sealer on any slate. it deepens the colors and protects it from any staining)
