November, 2017 Quilting/Sewing Goals

Here we go again.........the year is almost over......can you believe it?!

I did get quite a bit done on the Crayon Quilt this month but didn't get it finished. I think I'll need about 35-40 potholders and have about 15-20 in various stages or progress. I'm going with last months goals to finish the quilt and get a lot of the potholders completed. Along with making the last couple of BOW blocks.

The year is winding down, memories invade my thoughts and things happen that make me stop to appreciate what I have today and not be concerned about tomorrow.

Do you have anything you want to get done this month?

I'm not so sure about setting a goal about finishing it, but I do want to get as much as possible done on this new project I just started. It's called "Starry Night Squaredance" designed by Wendy Sheppard. I saw it in the Better Homes and Gardens Quilt magazine and the pattern is at RJR Fabrics. I am so glad that I really read all the instructions closely before starting it. The cutting instructions were correct but when I got into reading the piecing instructions something was different - it was saying sew the 2 inch squares to the 4 inch rectangles and the cutting instructions said cut all the squares 2 1/2 inches. So I suspected that the instructions were in err but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss something so I emailed the designer. She got in touch with RJR and it was an error and they corrected their instructions online. I've included a link to the pattern but the actual photo of the quilt in the magazine is really nice. I wanted to make it instantly. Starry Night Squaredance

Good thing I didnt make any goals for Oct. I would have failed miserably.

Thanksgiving wiped out a week and a trip to Nova Sotia to visit GS#1 took care of another week.

Earlier this week, I continued on with the little girls' quilts and was ready to pat myself on the back for finishing the blocks, all 200 of them ( they are 7 in. blocks) when I counted and was 14 short. The pieces are cut, will try to sew them this afternoon. Then put them aside because I want to do some Christmas sewing too this month. I hope, I hope, I hope.

The only must do is my co-worker's lap quilt. Then I have to do a thorough house cleaning before I sit down to sew. DD just asked if I wanted to make her friend a lap quilt for Christmas. Her friend has serious issues with the mom and DD thought it might cheer her up. We'll see if I get anything made.

Rita, I can see why you wanted to dig right in and start this quilt! It's an eye catcher for sure!

Theresa, YES! Pat yourself on the back for making all those blocks!!! WOW, 200! I understand about losing a week when there's something going on, and you lost 2 weeks. Rest up, gal.

Bev, Hire someone to do your housecleaning so you can sew. I think you'll choose the perfect thing for your DD's friend.

Ya-hoo........I finished quilting the Crayon Quilt!! What a relief! Now I have to think about making another baby quilt.......due in April. I have lots of time, right?
