Need paint color for this kitchen

Cream cabinets, cream and brown counters, no natural light. The whole space feels very creamy/yellowy and very boring. What kind of wall color and what kind of bar stools would you use to brighten/liven up the space? Or would you stick with a matching cream wall and rely on some cool artwork? Kitchen is in the back of the first floor and visible when you first walk into the house. Appliances will be stainless steel.

I would go with a gray paint or light bluish gray. For the stools I would bring in the metal back stools or a fabric stool. See pictures below. Good Luck.

Thank you for the response and the very helpful photos!

Love a bar stool like this as well.

You're right, it's too much of the same color, which washes it out. What about a rich brown paint color? I have attached a pic of this color combo.

Sam, I love the idea of modern white stools and I also love the Room and Board wooden stools! I will check out the paint you mentioned. Thank you!

Butlera - love the drama and contrast of that dark wall! But this kitchen does not have any natural light. Do you think a dark brown will work in that kind of environment?

    What about a light green?

    You're welcome!
Some other modern stools to check out - West elm scoop back, restoration hardware Magnus (stained not painted - painted cracks), cb2 vapor, crate and barrel Felix
(I have a similar vibe in my kitchen and am also on the hunt for the perfect well priced bar stools)

I'd keep the bar stools in the same tone as the granite. And, I would like a cream on the walls, too. One of the BM OC colors, painted in a Matte finish.

I'd bring my color in either on the ceiling or a big canvas oil painting, or both!

Mhong, I think there are enough bright colors to carry a rich wall color. It would be a matter of providing a lot of artificial light. It's all preference though. I think you would have to be ready for a dark color.

i'd leave the walls and then add bold color with one large impactful bright red piece of some sort. could be art. could be a wide red frame around a 7'H x30"W chalkboard, maybe a piece if folk or industrial art.
add very bright turquoise bar stools. then use these 2 colors sparingly for acessories like an artist made ceramic bowl full of granny smith apples. or bright red and turquoise kitchen towels.

I like the bar stool sam recommended. I would try to choose a color from the marble that's on the lighter side or go with the same color as the cabinets. I would stick with a bar stool that is very minimal looking, so it doesn't fight with the countertops with the countertops pattern. could you put some great pendants over the island?

Wow, lots of great ideas. Thank you! I will check them all out.

Caryn, the builder was planning on putting in an 8 foot track light over the island but I was going to ask for pendants because that's what I usually see over an island. What kind of pendants would you suggest? Something dramatic, or something discreet but bright?

OH, I think this kitchen is a beauty. I can see rich dark chocolate walls that will make the whole kitchen pop with 2 blue pendant lights over the counter. Put a stop order on that track lighting!

If you are open to adding in a little shine and industrial vibe, I really like the Restoration Hardware Benson pendant or this similar one from Circa Lighting (more expensive I believe). I think it would work with the clean lines of your kitchen which still has some traditional elements as well as tie in chrome from a bar stool if you end up going in that direction.
