The Koreans make fine small appliances...their major appliances suck. I tossed one of those HUGE LG fridges because no one could fix it. Fought with LG for 3 months and then gave up.

I sympathize with your dilemma. Thanksgiving is only 9 days away and the oven is integral to that holiday. I, too, have bought appliances that didn't work right and didn't last. However, once an appliance is out of warranty the company is not responsible for making it right. I, too, have had to pay for repair or buy a new appliance. Buying an extended warranty may help with your next purchase, but it doesn't help right now. So sorry for you.

Get rid of the lemon. Or plan to eat out for Thanksgiving.

for the cost of 3 service calls you can purchase a lower end replacement in a day and not have to hassle with appointments. I'd look up the specific issue online. It may not be the stove. The problem may be not enough gas pressure into your kitchen. Try asking your gas company to come check the line. Old gas and water lines can develop plaques, just like arteries.

Winter of 2014-2015, we remodeled the kitchen changing from electric to propane which meant a new gas line. So I eliminated that as a cause when the oven on our LG wouldn't light about 50% of the time this summer. Looked it up online and found a common problem with worn out igniters, a DIY replaceable part. However, I also read several reports that having a burner on before starting the oven worked. One technician commented that it wasn't logical but he'd seen it work also.

So now I turn the smallest burner on low before starting oven. I tried a couple times to turn the burner off once the oven fired up, but I had the same problem you report - the oven cooled off and didn't reheat often enough. So now the burner stays on low while the oven is working. I figure the small amount of propane used is cheaper than a service call; it's certainly less stressful.

Maybe next summer I'll order a new igniter.

LG has left me confused. The first LG gas stove we purchased in California was working just like new when we sold the house 8 years later and was a gem. Even temps, no hot or cold spots in oven, easy to clean and never needed a repair. I don't know if they changed factories, but this newer one hasn't been as good from the beginning. Problem is, I don't know what other brand to choose without paying for a fancy "chef" stove or a commercial one. Those of us who have never been able to pay a lot are stuck with junk.

Have you talked to the store where you bought it from? A couple years ago I replaced my washer and dryer with LG models and bought from Sears. Within two weeks water would leak out the bottom of the washing machine. I called LG and they gave me the name of the authorized warranty repair shop in my large metro area. I called them and they said they had stopped doing warranty work for LG. I called LG and they gave the number of another authorized appliance shop. Same answer - the guy told me they had stopped participating in the program due to too many repairs and not getting paid enough by LG to perform them. I called LG and the third number was out of business. So then I called Sears and invoked my satisfaction guarantee. However it was going to take them 2 weeks to swap it out so I asked for a refund, had a local appliance shop install a new washer in 2 days, and they left the defective LG in my garage for Sears to pick up at their leisure.

I bought all new LG kitchen appliances last summer including a double oven gas range that was about $1,600. The dishwasher didn't work from day one. Home Depot insisted that it be repaired instead of replaced. The closest repair company is 2 hours from my house. After 3-4 weeks, I finally had a working dishwasher. The thermostat in my top oven broke after about 10 months so it was fixed under warranty. I am looking to build a new house soon and I will not buy LG appliances for it.

I spoke to the store when we had the burner problem after 6 mos. They said they would charge me a restocking fee (Ironically around $280!) and they would let me exchange the stove. I am really mad at myself for not taking that offer. I thought the burner issue was a fluke. I am pretty sure they won't do anything for me now since it has been 2.5 years.

Since you are out of warranty, you should call a local independent repair person, and you can get a price over the phone for at least how much they charge to show up. I wouldn't waste any more time with LG.

Yes my wife had to have this stanless steel look package. All was fine, until we had problems with the gas range oven won’t get hot. The first 3 LG service techs didn’t have a clue .They suggested you need a plumber to check it and they said maybe something srong with your propanes pressure. so I get these problems addressed cost me about$300. Then finally get an Lg tech that actually knows his business, this man tears this stove apart relplaces parts ignitor. The oven worked for a few days and it started all over again. Not getting hot & with the holiday approaching I had to go out and buy a new stove almost another $1000us installion and conversion to propanr OMG! Happy Holidays!!!!

Hmmm, I've had LG appliances for many years and never a problem. Have they sold out and someone else is making them these days or what? I remember Maytag used to be good and my mother's W/D lasted decades, then they sold the company and kept the name, but now they suck. What is going on with LG?

I had a similar problem with my LG stoves. The first one I bought in 1998 was very good, even with the step down in power that comes from using propane (we were an hour from the nearest natural gas line).

Bought another one after moving cross country in 2013. In 2017 I started having problems with the oven. Researched online then ordered the ignitor module. Changed it myself, giving the oven a more thorough cleaning while I was at it. And, yes, this house is also on propane because we don't like city living.

I suspect my LG gas stove is due for another ignitor replacement soon because if something needs to cook for more than 30 minutes the temp drops (natural event), but only comes back up if I change the temp setting. Turning the oven off, then back on also works. It means using a separate oven thermometer and checking it every 15min.

Time to start looking at different brands of stoves. I've read that Samsung's are good quality.

I may have to start a lawsuit. my oven broke 10 times in 2 years. the 10th visit was a no show because they don't have any techs in my area? some repairs they sent a t.v. company to "fix" my oven!

Samsung ovens has a 25% failure rate!

If not Samsung, then what brand? Do I need to save up for a refurbished Westinghouse?

I have had terrific refrigerators from LG, so I never needed service. So, when it came time to replace my oven/stove, I didn't think LG would be troublesome. Boy, was I wrong! First off, I am a baker, so I immediately began putting the oven through its paces. I had purchased their true convection oven, which utilises an additional heating element, along with a fan, to ensure even heating throughout the oven. From the start, something wasn't right: my pies and cakes took LONGER to bake than even my old, spotty oven (I never knew exactly what temperature it was at), and, it turned out that it was NOT heating the oven evenly. When I finally was able to get someone from LG on the phone, they sent out their contracted repair company. The "technician" showed up without a mask (this was at the height of the Delta variant outbreak in 2021), told me inaccuracies about what convection baking is all about and what it can do, and did nothing to attempt to repair the unit. He basically told me there was nothing wrong with it. He was nasty, rude, and stormed out when I insisted that there was a problem with it not baking properly.

Calling his corporate office was an exercise in futility. They would not take a complaint from me and gave me the run-around.

LG had no other alternative technicians. Today, I called a technician in my area with a great reputation, and they told me they wouldn't even touch an LG oven/range! They also could not offer any suggestions as to other technicians in the area.

I should have kept my other stove/oven. At least, I KNEW its quirks and problems, and would not have spent well over $1000 for this headache.

We have had an lg gas stove for 6 years. the convection oven and roast quit working a year ago. We have had 3 different repair companies try to fix it but are unable to get the correct replacement part. life is not good and it sucks. will never buy another lg product again. i woukd like to drop it off at lg headquarters.

Considering replacing my 9yr old LG range due to repeated oven heating issues (see post above).

There's no way I can afford a high end brand and I don't need another air fryer or convection since I have a small counter top appliance for those functions. I have to use propane due to unreliable electric and no natural gas in our rural area.

Suggest you start a new thread with "Frigidaire gas ranges" in the title. From past experience here, folks with helpful info and experience on Frigidaire gas ranges might not notice your question at the end of this thread about LG gas ranges.

I have had so much trouble with my LG range. Cannot find out how to clean the upper oven. LG does not know either. Says it has self clean but they forgot to add the upper oven. My burners keep melting down. The oven temp. are not reliable. Hate this oven. I have had it for 3 years. Paid a pretty penny!

I absokutely will not buy an LG again i splurged on a gas double oven woth probake at first it waa great after a few years ivens atarted heatkmg up too much or not enough parts thru repair warranty are impossible to find we have replqce the sensors, the mother board amd tomorrow will replace igniters basicqlly a new oven—paet wise what a joke twice as much as another oven and 1/2 the life.

All I can say is I really like my LG front loadl pair, but won't have any of their other appliances. And there is a local builder that put that brand of appliances in their kitchens. I cringe.

The oven on our 6-year-old (purchased along with our house two years ago) LG range refused to open after we used the Self Clean function.

It took over two hours on the phone dealing with customer support in the Philippines, and then over a week days waiting for an LG technician here in Denver ($300 prepaid) to arrive.

He finally arrived, but does not have all of the right parts, so will have to return. His overall advice to us is to never use Self Clean on an LG range. Seriously folks, don't buy this product. (I also have an LG dishwasher story, but will spare you that sob story now!)
