Vanity dilemma. Vitreous vs quartz

I am trying to narrow down a vanity for my powder room and have these 2 as my options.

Daughter and I like the white sleek look while husband prefers the Abbey in charcoal gray as its not open in the bottom and has quartz top.

I am not able to find a lot of info on the counter top/sink material for the 1st one, Ironwood.

What is vitreous china material and how is it compared to quartz?

This powder room will be used by kids and we need something that is more stain proof and easy to care and that's why every vanity with carrara marble was out :( :(

Either material is going to be durable. Vitreous china is basically what your toilet is made out of. The thing that concerns me in the first option is that there is no back splash. (or side splash as you currently have)

Secondly, there is a good chance that your walls are not exactly straight. To buy a pre-fab top like that, you may end up with gaps along the edges of your walls.

My suggestion is to buy something from a store and talk to a salesperson about what your best options are.

Thank you for the tip. I am not worried about backsplash/sidesplash as we will do tiles on all 3 sides.

I never thought about the exact measurement of the pre assembled vanity and the top. Thank you for pointing it out. Will work accordingly.

After 25 years in my home, I just replaced one of those vanities. Are you sure that one is 36"? I got the exact width and depth of my vanity (the newer ones are a couple inches taller) and searched for one that size, from a kichen and bath cabinet supplier (Don't shop at HD and Lowes). For the top, I went with granite, which I gave dimensions (counter width + depth, side +backplash height, center hole placement in inches). I got a really good price, including an undermount sink. Waynette, yes, it is 36". This one is also 23 years old as well :) :). To be honest, I went to HD and Lowes 3 times, each time with an open mind but didn't like anything!! I did my hall bath 3 years ago and used a kitchen and bath cabinet supplier. We went with Bertch cabinet and granite top. I think the more I am researching and looking for this powder room vanity, the more I am leaning towards calling them and getting a price. Thank you for your wishes. At this point, I think I really need it!!!
