Yeah, I should probably get around to doing that. I can rather infrequently and I hate having to look around for the things I need.

Wow! How long did it take and how many jars did you end up with?

That makes me want to look for some chicken or turkey at a great price. This would be such a good time to do it when we need the heat in the house. The humidity in the basement is only 18% at 54 F, so we also could benefit from the extra humidity in the air.

Mathias I ran two canners twice and ended up with 28 quarts. Probably from start to finish between 5-6 hours. I also canned two turkeys around Thanksgiving. And you are so right, it is so much nicer to can when it is nice and cool outside and the extra warmth makes your home warm and cozy.

You must have done a great job organizing the new apt.!

Thank you! I did put a lot of effort into getting a place for everything and maximizing the space I have, so that the apartment actually seems like it has all the room I need.

My hat, if I was wearing one, would be tipped to you. I feel guilty. I have a fairly good sized house and am totally unorganized. I do have my large pressure canner and the water bath canner on the stove because all my storage is full. I'm working on reversing that.

That was a super good buy and will make things much easier when you don't feel like cooking everything from scratch.

Madonna, thank you but I cannot take all the credit. I recently (around 4 months ago) lost half of everything I owned in a flood. I gave away much of what was left because it was simply beyond my ability/budget to get everything moved, I even gave away my canning stuff, (and bought new after I moved into the apartment.)

So as you see, disaster forcibly declutter and minimized all my possessions. I do take credit for taking the time and effort to organize what I have left and it has made my life easier.
