I would suggest a multi-surface coffee table (2+ pieces) which would also help with guests and an asymmetrical TV stand to balance your window (on the right).

An smaller upholstered storage ottoman would be most practical and safest with your little one ( no sharp corners). Additional suggestion, I would move / reposition the two photos on either side of your television , they’re floating too high, how about hanging them vertically on a smaller area / space? I would also find another place for the clock , not crazy about it there & the color seems off with what’s below. And congratulations on the house & baby!

If I hung the photos vertically to the left of the tv and hung a white ladder with pretty white blankets to the right, would that be too much? We haven’t entertained an ottoman idea, but it would need to be a small one because our little one likes to in that area while us parents watch tv. Insp photo down below. I also just ordered the white buckets/curtains and thinking about the white ottoman. I was kinda going with a white theme, but it’s not amounting to that yet.

As much as I love curtain panels, looking at your windows makes me wonder if they're the best idea. Curtains look best when they can be mounted fairly close to the ceiling and wide enough to allow them to stack back off the Windows. That's not really going to work with these windows. Maybe a Roman shade instead?

Here are some ideas. I would focus your color palette using more black to tie things together. I removed your wall hangings (forgive me) but the TV wall is your focal wall so you don’t need other elements on the walls. I put some geometric pictures beside the TV to compliment your rug. Scale is smaller so that is key. Then I replaced your lamp and end table for arc lamp. Hard to put these in mock ups but the base would slide under sectional in that corner and swing over to sofa area. I put a black bench to border play area and it has sliding solid surface for tea party! It also has storage and provides a extra seat if needed. I would also consider some simple window treatment. By repeating your blacks, you achieve a more cohesive, pleasant look. A piece of fun art in the play area niche would be nice.

I just want to comment on the little nook area. that could be many things. while baby is small, you could do a little play area for her, and gradually change it to a desk area later on. I would move the stove in her room and get more use out of that space by doing something like this (ikea prob has many things you could use here)

as she grows, make it into a craft/play area

but for sure utilize all of that vertical space that's there now. shelving or cabinetry of some sort will give you extra storage for toys/games

I've been where you are, this is a fun time so do enjoy it! Please remember that you need storage more than anything. I would have a built-in cabinet made that can offer lots of storage, the one you have is too small. There are too many things hanging on the wall and could be hung differently to better effect. Some color on the wall would help, window treatments and lastly a soft storage ottoman in front of sectional. I personally feel like the sectional creates a large barrier but I can't always see the real issue until I pay a house call. I also understand that you want the room pleasing to the eye. I can tell you toy storage and all the accoutrements of parenthood/childhood are vast. You need storage, storage and more storage haha! Don't get too worried about all this now, you have plenty of time to obsess on decorating once your family gets older. Have fun with it all, be fearless, take some chances. Happy New Year!

Hello, I saw your post and I thought I would chime in. I gave an existing sketch rendering that is not finished, I still feel it is off proportionally but is well on its way as I continue to see the back porch chairs etc. I used filler cabinetry for this for now...getting a feel for it. I can create custom furniture, interior decoration, residential design, and visuals / animations. As a designer I like to work from styles: Modern, Victorian, country, etc. I would want to design the entire home into one style or into many different styles depending on your taste and imagination. I can design a very small interior space with circulation, spatial coordination, and color schemes.

I fixed the perspective a little bit. There are a lot of things I could do with this. The possibilities are endless. I wish I had some input on furniture brand likes and dislikes etc.

So I wanted to update everyone on the updates we made. Instead of getting a coffee table or large ottoman, we bought two small stools and use them as a personal table when we need it. I got a lot of suggestions on black decor, but I really wanted to go with the lighter colors. I figured I should stick with what I would want to live with and see every day. When I told my husband that we should take off the clock, he was sooo against it, so we kept it. lol

I really like your new baskets and white cubes. I'm not sure if the plant works on that c-table. Maybe it is simply the perspective of the photo, but the plant looks too big for it.
