BLAH new construction exterior

I need major help on paint color selection for my new home. I was thinking BM iron mountain for trim, garage and siding but im on the fence.

The biggest issue I have is the entry- nothing draws the eye to the entry and I've thought about painting the brick entry or even adding stone. The builder is adding shutters and doing closed shutters over that weird area where it looks like there should be a window. I like a modern aesthetic and am not thrilled about shutters.

Full disclosure - I bought this house mid construction and had no input into the exterior selections. We got the house at a steal and given the real estate market in my town - compromises had to made.

Id love to add some architectural details to bring some life to the exterior.

Probably never was a window in that spot. Brick inset was done as a design element. You could do closed shutters over that but that would tend to draw the eye more to that spot, which it sounds like you don't want to do (you said you don't really like shutters). I would lean more towards landscaping to soften that area. Pick a brighter color for the door (purple, deep teal, etc.) that works with the brick and siding to draw they eye to the entrance. Also some seating on the porch area would liven up the area. I like the brick and siding color so work with it.

Was there a window in that weird spot? Looks like it has been bricked up? Anyway, try a light grey for trim and doors. Landscaping and lighting will go a long way to brighten your beautiful new home. Congratulations.

I'm not sure .. to me it looks like there was a window. I am going to add a large evergreen to mask it. Not sure what the builder was thinking!

Not totally in line with your entry concerns but...Would you consider adding some cedar accents? If not I would suggest a lighter color on the closed shutters and adding shutters to the windows left of the front door.

A small shed roof over the bricked in window could add some character to that area as well.

I think once the driveway and landscaping is installed it will help with some of the dark tones of the brick and the shingles.

Example of lighter fascia/trim and non brick areas, I guess you could stucco the entry similar to this? Better than adding stone.

It looks to me as the entry surround is already in stone. (Maybe it is brick). What a perfectly beautiful house. Sounds like you did good! I think if you have a decent photo you can take it to a paint store & use a program they will have to insert colors & finishes, shutters, etc. This will be the only sure-fired way to make those selections. Good luck & have fun with the move & settling in.

Beautiful home! Landscaping goes a long way. Also, I agree about painting the door a color that will pop. Also, the placement of your mailbox will help. If you place it to the left or right of the entry way to your home, it will help draw your eye to the door. Also, painting the garage doors will help too. Take a look at some of our mailbox options that would look great with your brick color.
