Should the joint where the countertop meets the backsplash be caulked or just grouted? I am particularly concerned about the area directly behind the kitchen faucet because I am noticing that the grout is discoloring there and small amounts of grout have cracked off. Is this normal when the backsplash is tile? I’ve noticed that that joint is filled with clear silicone when the backsplash is a matching solid surface as the countertop. I am wondering which method is the correct one. When the grout cracks off, will water damage follow?
