I tried my first Flavor King off of my tree last summer and it is a keeper! It had such a strong flavor and was so sweet it almost tasted like Swedish fish candy. I would think that you could use it as a pollinator because the two ( Flavor Queen and Flavor king) are grafted to the same 4 in 1 pluot trees. In the past I had one of these trees and all 4 pluots bloomed at the same time in my yard.

Last I am not to crazy about flavor grenade. It is very sweet and has a good crunch but seemed a little lacking in flavor.

I agree that Flavor King is a keeper. Don't overlook the "normal" santa rosa plum which is an excellent pollinator for most pluots. Santa Rosa isn't as sweet as most pluots but it has an amazingly complex flavor with a strong floral element that the pluots don't replicate as well.

Agreed on Flavor King, not only delicious but productive, I live in the East Bay as well, Oakland foothills, last year my one adolescent tree pumped out 40 pounds of amazing fruit! And I agree that Santa Rosa is a premium eating plum, I have one of those as well which pollenizes the pluot, and it is more attractive than a pluot tree, which may be a consideration if you are planting in the front yard. Every other year each tree alternates with a bumper crop. East Bay Nursery in Berkeley on San Pablo Ave should have both in stock, from Joseph Wilson.

In addition to Flavor King I also have Flavor Finale and Flavor Queen. Finale has a taste very similar to King except it is not quite as intense. It's advantage is that it ripens very late and holds on the tree quite well. Queen is much firmer than King and very sweet, but I find the flavor somewhat bland and uninteresting.

My somewhat new geo pride was fantastic last year.

Flavor grenade was great as well, nice crunch, lots of fruit, and enjoyable flavor. More mild than the geo pride, but not bland.

I bought Flavor Grenade with Dappled Dandy bare root last year, and got several nice fruit; I think Dappled Dandy. I had a four in one years ago, but it didn't survive.
