What is your style? What style leather sofas do you desire?

That would determine if I would ask the builders to fix their error and re paint the trim to white.

But if you like the look of the stone FP surround and will furnish in a craftsman or country or wood cabin look then leave the trim tan as it works with what is happening there now.

If this was built for you, how did they just go ahead and paint the trim tan. Very unusual, but it doesn't look terrible in you posting.

Here are some leather sofas that would look good.

Butter yellow sectional.With light green pillow, this grey sectional would also look good. Clean lines.

I think a taupe coloured leather sofa would look good with autumn tones like in pics, add lots of ivory or cream in accessories

I actually like the stone on the fireplace. It looks decent and provides more options for matching furniture and accessories as well.
The trim was spray painted orange/tan. It's not actually a wood stain. This was done by the builder, perhaps requested by prior owner.
It is simply too much $ to paint trim only. I'm hoping to make colors work as is and get decor ideas so that it looks nice. The entire house is painted in this manner.

I feel that my style is somewhat limited based on the color scheme I’m trying to achieve. When searching for leather sofas in lighter tones there didn’t seem to be many options. Pics below of things I thought might work while sofa shopping.

I like things that are not too “busy” with regards to stitch patterns, etc.

My style tends to be more traditional.

buy white paint than paint it is not so hard. the couches are to bulky and outdated

Since you are committed to the current color scheme (trim and wall paint) plus you do like the fire place stone - let those be your guide.

IMHO introducing the gold color couch will be a miss. From the examples you have shown above, I'm thinking your priority is comfort! I think the style will work in the room given the existing elements.

I personally prefer the white couch because it is more stylish but the brown will be more practical and is more casual. Decide now which one YOU prefer - then we can select an area rug and one or two chairs for the room.

I see you have little ones? Will there be a TV in this room?
