Wall Dilemma

This was my husband's idea to inset the TV since the family room is narrow. I'm trying to figure out what to place on the walls without being too matchy. The side space is 33" wide and 2 stories high. One side being next to the front door which for the most part is closed and the other is next to the stairs. Do I need a table or chest? Will it look dwarfed by the size of the wall? I'm thinking maybe something sculptural for the walls since I already have 2 large framed watercolors of tropical flowers. The furniture is ultra suede and is a dark moss green. Any suggestions?

Is the door to the left the entrance to the house? Was this a closet? If so, your husband is lucky he is not married to me LOL!! That is just wrong in my humble opinion.

you can place a little shelf decorated with pictures or even small photographs just to balance out with the tv.

Don't know how it would look but maybe try tension curtain rod and two window panels or shower curtains ( cheaper that windows panels) and just cover the tv when not in use and open them when used. And/or do the hanging frames as you mentioned.

OMG take a picture of your family room. The whole space at once. We can help you get the TV out of the hall closet. I agree with Margo, thank god your husband is not married to us. I would have laid myself across the foyer. LOL

Seriously, I am almost in tears (nothing like laughing at a computer screen). We need pictures of the family room STAT. Let's get the TV to come out of the closet!

What about hanging a wall hanging above the tv. That way your eye focus on it instead of tv. Also some staggered wall shevles on either side fills in the space. You could also use a large wall sculpture up there!

Take couch or love seat and position it with its back to closet in creating a entrance and freeing a more suitable wall for the TV Tvs need a wall a couch does not

Wow...my hubby would never have gotten this! Well ok maybe if I got a jacuzzi and maid service for life or something...LOL....I am with OnePlan...doors!

Short of moving it, you need a fix. Start by painting the whole inside of the closet black so it does not stick out as a TV but blends with the wall behind it. Next paint the closet trim the wall color so it disappears. Definitely a wall tapestry that is large enough to cover under the window to the TV closet. Here are some ideas.

I would get a lovely large crystal chandelier to replace the tiny one that you have now and - that will give people something lovely to look at when they look at the door... then get a series of 4 coordinated prints- whatever you like. and place them 2 on each side, one on top of the other beginning at eye level or a bit higher... to frame the door
