My best advice is to stay away from the flat packed cabinetry. I have yet to see any that I would classify as "Good Quality" most come out of China. Have fun getting parts or replacement doors. Find another way.

ikea is how i was leaning but i have no experience with the other companies. any good resources installation videos or words of advice?

Conestoga or Barker are the other good quality RTA cabinets.

If your truck can get to the property, what's the problem with carrying assembled cabinets? I've installed flat-pack cabinets for several friends and they were all junk.

Ikea's cabinets are all installed with a hanging rail system. While there are other good RTA companies, Ikea cabs are the easiest to install for a novice DIYer.

we have installed full custom cabinets before in my regular home, so we are not total novices to the process. the rail system is very nice. i have been watching videos from a few difference companies. i am tiling the floors first and then I will get ready for the cabinets.

Skil367: My guess is that since getting them "back to the property will not be easy" that they want to make as few trips as possible. Flat pack it just a LOT more efficient use of space in a truck.

Most flat pack is cheepchinesecrapola not suitable for a dog house. IKEA is the only low budget option that isn’t. Moving up, Barker, Scherrs, and Conestoga.

I have owned dozens of rental properties. I've been installing IKEA kitchen cabinets in the kitchens and bathrooms of rental properties for more than 20 years now. I've installed a total of several hundred cabinets.

If you're a landlord, you know that tenants can be very rough on furnishings. I have seen exactly two failures. Both failures were special hinges used on horizontal doors. In both cases, IKEA sent replacement hinges at no cost via FedEx. Many folks poke fun of IKEA cabinets, but those are always people who have never actually inspected one. They're quite sturdy and cost-effective. And IKEA uses quality Blum hinges which are much better than typical cabinet hinges.

Side note: IKEA cabinets used to come from Europe, but the cabinets I installed this week are clearly marked "Made in the United States of America".

If you want to customize your cabinet doors, there are several companies that manufacture cabinet doors that are exact fits to IKEA cabinets. I have seen some high-end remodels done this way.

I'm so over the arrogant tradesmen who look down their nose at Ikea cabinets. I've had great success with their Sektion line, and the Metod line before that, going back 30 years.
