Found this picture that is so similiar to ours with the beams, brushed nickel hardware and white cabinets- I really like this simple look- thinking of getting this in this vintage gold finish -the size I think is right is the 16”e x 24”h ( the 16”” width is at the upper most wide part the lowest point is about 12.5” wide. They have a larger #9” but I think that would be too much. Our island is 90”l x 54”w and the ceiling is10ft. Your thoughts before I order? And agin you all have been such phenomenal help! Including pic from Houzz and one of our kitchen

I've have always loved this style of light. We use a lot of the Darlana by visual comforts. They work well with most any other light!

Great choice for style. Size is good. Like it is open and no glass. The actual down light from this style will be much less than other styles--your bulbs shine up and out but nothing directs the light down---just so you know, not sure how much task lighting you need. Brass is so popular right now and I think mixing in and adding some accessories in same will bring a nice sparkle. Have fun finishing up your selections!

Hey all, well we are in the home stretch -one last question. I was going to get the pendants hung where the bottom of the pendant is 36” from counter top -is that right? The kitchen has a 10ft ceiling. Thx

Mine are at 43” I have 10’ ceilings in a open concept so gives off great light without blocking anything...but 36” is just fine all depends on how open you want it...my husband is 6’3” so really did not want to look into a light fixture when in the kitchen looking into Family Room.....so they are just above his sight line.

HIWE- that’s beautiful- actually, I had talked with electrician a bout distance between fixtures and he got that perfect but i failed to talk about height and I show back up and this is what he had done. They will be lowered - I don’t want them in the way but this is ridiculous

1st time for the electrician hanging or even seeing pendant lighting hung.? Better tell him about houzz so he can browse through photos and see that is not the height nor even close to being right. Unless you are perhaps 7' tall? This is a good example as to why now a days you have to follow the "professionals' around to make sure they are doing their job right. And we pay them how much to do it wrong and then pay them again to make it right???

Reading this thread and your contributions are invaluable! With an 8 x 4 ft island and 10' ceiling,you suggest around 15" wide pendants. Would it be possible to use three of those?

You don't have enough lights in the ceiling. I see none over the kitchen. You need lighting to wash all the counter areas and a pair of fixtures hanging over the island (I suggest wood lanterns with downlights). Whoever planned the kitchen lighting failed in their mission. You may end up with a big change-order ticket to pay or inefficient under-cabinet lighting.

Thank you.... I think 3 would make them way too close together. I love the look of two and especially in this kitchen.... to larger vs. three smaller.

There are six can lights in the kitchen and plenty of light when they are on! I am waiting for the bar stools to arrive to post an update hopefully by the end of this month. Again, I so appreciate everyone’s contribution and suggestions. The two pendants are perfect!
