Last year I bought tons of bulds at a deep discount since it was 3 months past the planting date.

Just about everything sprouted, but with late planting and our weird drought last year only a handful of things bloomed.

Then once the heat and summer rains set in I just let the weeds take over the bed as the bulb leaves had turned brown and died.

But I have been keeping an eye out just in case.

And sure enough... there are some sprouting back up this year.

My best guess is a warm cliamit daffodil that is said not to need a cold spell (can' remember the name off hand) I have a few clumps, this set with 3 and a few more.

One of my other fears as to why they sprouted then died last year is maybe nematods and other soil issues robbed them of roots and nutrients.

Should I dig them up and put like a whole bag of potting soil into a hole in the ground to try and give them better soil. Or just try and clean up the weeds around them, add some black kow and mulch.

This area in the back yard gets a ground covering that is short and has little white tiny tiny flowers, it forms a mat. It dies quick in the winter, much faster than the grassy areas. I carefully pulled the matting and the torpedo grass away from the area were I could seem them poking through.

I forgot t o take a pic of the exact spot I founds the clumps, but here is a spot right next to them.
