HELP - Is this fixable??

I loved these glass tiles at the tile shop and used them for my shower surround in my main bathroom.
Installation went well (with a couple of tiles not quite straight, but I let that slide...). All looked very clean and simple until contractor mounted a little shelving glass piece. Now a glass tile cracked and I am really upset about it. I wish I had thought of recessed tilted shelves before he tiled! I fear if I ask him to cut that tile out and replace, it will create more cracks. What to do???

make sure he caulks the space where the tile meets the tub!

Since no pro's commented yet I would make him fix that tile. He broke it, he should fix it

bummer. Not sure about getting that fixed, I know someone will be around to help soon. I see the corners grouted? I'm pretty sure the corners shouldn't be grouted, they need caulk. But again, wait for a pro. See if you can just add some more photos in the comments here, bigger. Can we see the whole shower?

Thanks Melissa. Corners are indeed grouted. It wouldn’t be the first tiling mistake this contractor made. Re caulking, He said he is coming today to ‘silicon caulk’ the bathroom. When I asked what that was he said to seal around toilet and tub. Here are more pictures of crack. Top view and bottom view too.

It’s not fixable unless he removes it. Did u ask him why he cracked it? There are drill bits that are used for glass. He could have mounted the shelves to the glass

As for silicone. All joint spaces in the shower should be done with silicone. Grout is not waterproof. Silicone will seal all the joints and prevent water seepage. Grout can shrink and crack overtime, allowing more water to pass through.

Cc originally said he told us for fixing the crack because I chose the kind of shelf. After some back and forth, he agreed it is up to him to make it right. Said he will go home and practice on a few tiles at his place w/o me breathing down his neck...anyhow, that is taken care of.
Now the silicon, can we correct the grout after the fact now? How hard is it to take off corner fronts to replace with silicon. Would it work to silicon over the grout?

Told us he will *charge us* to remove and replace tile originally is what I meant.

No charge to you for the fix. If's hes a Pro he should know what drill bit to use for glass. Yes, it is a PITA but, it can be done.

the joint between the tub and the bottom row of glass is the biggy. if you can dig out a bit of the grout and get the siliconized grout in the same color, that would be better. and the two corner wall joints.

and no, he should not charge you to replace the tile. he cracked it. they drill holes into glass tiles all the time to install glass shower doors. you just have to know what you're doing and have the correct bits. your shelf choice has nothing to do w/it. and you don't silicone over grout. a true tile pro knows all of this. knows you don't grout joints. smh.

this is the stuff you need. they match any companies grout color. go online.

Thank you everyone. Tile issues have been squared away. Pro or not, thank u so much for suggesting what you know, Melissa! Beth, we are going to order the silicon in the grout color and go at it. You guys all saved my little cute bathroom:)
