Persil Laundry Detergent recommendation

Hi all, first time poster ... been lurking around reading the many insightful posts comments and it seems like many here are very knowledgeable.

I upgrade from a 30-year old GE TL and bought a used he FL bosch 500 next w (4.0 cuft) last year and found it an improvement. I'm using Tide free(no perfumes/dyes, I prefer no scents) powder and still experimenting with the right amount. It seems 1-2 TBSP Tide (with same amount of baking soda) is sufficient as any more makes my white towels and bedsheets dingy grey and crunchy. My research found too much detergent was the culprit as Tide's recommended amount was 2x as much at about 1/4 cup.

I don't use liquid FS - I use either vinegar or Bounce Free dryer sheets.

As you may have guested by now, I'm adverse to strong artificial scents.

Anyhow, I'm looking to try Persil as it has great reviews and seems comparable to Tide in quality.

CR put them neck-neck.

I bought a bottle of Persil ProClean Liquid Laundry Detergent and when I took the cap off, I found the scent unbearable - WAY TOO STRONG. I haven't even used it to do laundry.

So here's my Q - what other Persil variety would you recommend that doesn't smell so strong?

Power-Caps Original? Power-Pearls Original? Do they wash as well/better/worse?

I live in Canada and our selection here seems to be less than in US.

I haven't seen Power-Liquid Sensitive Skin around. Is that any better?

TYIA for your help.

I'm in Canada and see pearls available, have not seen Sensitive which sounds more to my liking.

If you can find the Persil 2n1 formula with 10 dimensions of clean that will be less strong smelling. I find that after a wash there is little to no scent left but that may depend on how well your washer rinses and if you don't overdose it. I use a lot less than the recommended amount and get clean clothes. If you use the Perls in warm water for colors they will come out great, but colors will fade overtime if you wash them in hot water because the Perls contain oxygen bleach.

As a fellow Bosch Nexxt owner I use exactly 2 Tablespoons in my Washer for each load. Most of the time it's Sears Ultra Plus with the remainder being Cheer, both of these are Powder Detergents.

I have a bunch of Persil Pearls that I occasionally use for my Whites but if your not careful with dosing the Bosch will run another rinse cycle as the Pearls suds up quite a bit.

I'm not a big fan of the smell of Persil as well.

@ Jerrod and Jeffrey, do you use 2 Tablespoons for Persil Pearls too?

does Persil Pearls smell more/less/same as Persil ProClean Liquid Laundry Detergent IYO?

The Pearls do not smell like the liquid. IMO

Eta....you can open the pearls and huff before buying.

I only use the Perls for loads of white underwear and I have a small FL so I use 2 tablespoons for this load. If I use a prewash I distributed the dosage between the two cups

@mamapinky0, unfortunately the bottle's cap for Pearls are sealed with shrink wrap plastic. :-(

    colle,

Most of the time it is under 2 Tablespoons as I don't have a full load of whites.

Lile MamaP, I don't think the Powder smells like the Liquid.

To me the Perls smell nothing like the liquid. Regardless of what they smell like in the bottle there doesn't seem to be any scent left after a wash.

Which one of the Persil’s were people complaing about that made their clothes smell like vomit?

@MiMi, I'm not sure which Persil but I read it in other threads, and there were suggestions that the vomit smell occurred when people used chlorine bleach with their wash.

    =======

I used the Persil ProClean liquid this weekend on 3 loads of laundry (2 hot, 1 warm) on normal cycle with extra rinse.

2 Tablespoons left a scent after washing and drying - not as bad as I feared but still perfumery, not vomit. Hopefully the smell dissipates quickly.

Regarding cleaning performance, I don't see an improvement over Tide.

Maybe I overloaded the wash (4.0 cu ft, 8 kg/17.6 lb capacity)?

    - queen duvet cover, 2 queen sheets (fitted & flat), mattress protector, 4 pillow cases

I doubt the scent will leave anytime soon, but I could be wrong.

Persil liquid can leave a strong scent if not rinsed very well. Try adding another rinse.

I think it may have been the Pearls leaving the vomit scent. I haven't heard any of the regular members here that did get the vomit scent using chlorine with it as I'm pretty sure they all know chlorine and oxygen bleach messes the benefits of both up.

Colle as for over loading....how thick is your matteress protector?

I washed a queen-size quilt three days ago, used 4 tbsp of 2 in 1 (10 Dimensions) liquid. Noticed the dosage instructions advise 59 ML (2 oz., 1/4 cup) for a "normal" load so I went for it. Plus 2 tbsp STPP. Minimal sudsing. The residual scent today is much more of the (scant dose) of Mexican Downy than of Persil. I've never gotten a vomit scent from either pearls or liquid.

mamapinky0, sorry for not seeing your question earlier.

the mattress protector is not that thick … average I guess, maybe 1/4" thick as it's not the cheapest nor the most expensive.
