Please stay away from Schlitzberger Stone Design in Houston (not that they showed up on the SFA map, anyway) -- they did an awful job on my kitchen.

I actually had Rey Rodriguez of Ageless Stoneworks at the house to provide a quote, and Rey is a frequent contributor on the SFA forum. Had SSD agreed to remove their counters and just go away as I'd intended, I would've had Rey handle to redo. Sadly, this didn't come to pass.

Javiwa, I read through your entire thread about your horrible installation. What a nightmare. What was your final outcome, if I may ask? And thank you for not only the recommendation but also who to avoid.

We live in Georgetown and I am in the process of using Blue Label Granite. They are just off of 130 and 71. East of the airport. I originally picked my granite at Triton Stone. Fantastic selection there! Then when speaking with Blue Label, they told me they carry a large selection as well... They install my granite tomorrow. Abbie, one of the owners, is who I worked with. They have been so prompt, so easy to work with, and very reasonable on pricing! Can't wait to see it installed.

Jana, that is absolutely gorgeous. Did you go to how the template would be laid out on the slab?

Tx Ranchlady, they offered. I had visited with Abbie enough before hand, at my house, and had pictures of my slabs from when I picked it out that we were able to discuss it and I trusted her to take care of it. I had neck surgery in Dec. and didn't want to make the 45 minutes to her place... But that is definitely something they encourage.

Absolutely love Matt at Cypress granite and tile on Jones road. He did an incredible job on my fantasy brown countertops. He is a great guy.

Texas Ranchlady: I don't mind at all your asking. They fabricated or glued in sections to fill the gaps that are 'good enough' for me not to revisit small claims. But at the end of the day, I didn't receive what I originally paid for...through zero fault of my own. There was no earthly reason that excused their poor cuts. Honestly, they had to try very hard to achieve the non-90 degree cuts I ended up with.

I'd actually contemplated not wrapping the backsplash tile around the corner (to end at the window), but now I'll need to in order to cover this puzzle piece ... which means whatever window shades I install will not be flush with the left of the wall.

Three pieces...ugh. Would be much easier to get beyond this if I didn't have to see this many times during my day.

Tx Ranchlady, this is the granite job you had done? I would have been livid!!! Blue Label Granite did all special cuts here on site. They used a thick paper, cut the template from that, actually even used a razorblade to make the cut so precise. The main area they had to be very careful with was around two columns that separate the kitchen from the den. I can show you a picture if you like...

Sorry, now I see this was Javiwa's project. I am so sorry to see that sort of mistake!

Javiwa, I am terribly sorry to see such poor work. We try so hard to do our homework and find reputable workmen, and then get sloppy work for our hard-earned dollars.
