garage door handles, yay or nay

Got a new garage door and i love it! I know i don’t want straps but i can’t decide on the handles. Below is garage with none and then with two photoshopped options. The long ones actually have a “t” handle going through the top. but i just used what i could find on Houzz :) also I’m not married to doing the two separated look, if i do in fact do them.

Also if anyone is knowledgeable with exterior updates, I’m also trying to figure out a MINIMAL update. Mostly because i think the triple window looks too small. I considered adding shutters. But i think perhaps i need to do some hardy board in the top “triangle” and then also on the one window pop out? And in same gray or maybe a lighter gray maybe even white?

No shutters and nothing more on the garage door. I would paint the bump out a lighter shade of gray paint and frankly change out the triple arch window to a rectangle. Just a few too many arches on this home IMO.

For sure no shutters. I think I like the bottom ones since they sort of echo the arched windows. I like the simplicity of the exterior and for now I would leave it to see what it looks like when the spring comes. Right now all I see is the garage door it takes over the whole front of the hoyuse and makes the entry almost invisible. Could you post a pic from futher back facing the entry . I would have done the garage door in either the house color or a color to blend with the stones. I always like a walkway from the street to the front door not from the driveway .

Hey Bev! Nothing or the long handles? Your edit had the long ones you did exactly what i want to do (it looks so much better) but i had a bid to see the pricing of changing arch to square and it was nuts! I could always save For ten years haha but i was trying to figure out a fix i thought about squaring them out with white framing but t would prob look weird. It’s funny cause hiss windows feel huge inside our room but from outside they look like little babies haha. I like the light gray pop out, should i do it elsewhere to tie it in?

Hey Patricia! Thanks for your comments! The house was always a garage doo screaming hello (ha!) cause if the way the entry way sits back (which drives me nuts) but at least this way it’s a cute one. Ans we figure we could paint it later if we wanted, but testing to figure out rest if house. I thought about adding a little fence/railing going up the stairs (so not on the path in front but starting at the bottom of the stairs) in the far side - wondering if that would help the balance if disappearing entry. But i also wonder if we need to add a porch in the future to help that. We love the big arched ceilings and floor plan inside but the exterior is a little odd. I will take a centered and farther back pic.

Yes to the handles on the garage. Maybe you can do the light gray on the bay by the entrance. Would be nice to add some architectural details like you see on this home below. Maybe some vertical board and batten siding?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to add pillars similar to this over my entrance to make it stick out more. But of coarse the roof over entrance downtown start til right up top. Would love to add some texture/details. I love board and batton, that’s what i was thinking of doing on that triangle above triple window, maybe even on the window pop out (could still be lighter gray) my garage has a little bit of that vertical board batton feel. where would you suggest this goes?
