Maybe these charts will give you some direction. Paint the walls in a gray that works with FP, chairs and rug. It will take some sampling so buy sample pots and big white poster boards. Paint the color in the center of the boards, leaving a large white border so your current wall color won't have any effect on the sample. Move the boards around over a 48 hour period, with natural and artificial light, to see what is best.

Got it. Do you think painting the walls is a must? I'm okay with it, but the walls were painted just a couple years ago.

They seem very yellow. If you want your new FP to stand out, I'd change the color so it doesn't blend into the wall color so much.

Nice space! Greys and beiges are neutral but they often don't play nice together. Mixing warm colors and cool colors can make a room look off and that is what happening in your space. The fireplace and rug and furniture are cool, the walls and window treatments and floor are warm.

It's tough to pull off warm and cool together but you can make it work using patterns with warm and cool and by strategically placing warm and cool accents around the room.

Accessible beige by SW is a nice greige color that works well with warm and cool. I think changing your wall color will help bring your room together. No accent wall.

Try pulling your chairs away from the wall and bringing them on the the rug, angled to the fireplace. Right now the rug, the fireplace and the chairs don't look cohesive.

I like this version of modern mountain. Perhaps you can use this space for inspiration.

My suggestion has nothing to do with 'modern or mountain' but just has to do with 'decorating' in general. I would suggest put the front feet of the chairs onto the rug.

The large mirror seems to not fit or have any purpose other than to fill that space. A beautiful painting would look much better and give needed color to your gray scheme. The shades should be as close to the wall color as you can get them, and neutral curtains similar to the wall color will tie everything together, giving softness without pattern. Is there any way you can have a love seat with the back facing the dining area? The seating seems very skimpy for a living area.

Rug under the chairs seems to be a common feedback, so thank you all. I also like changing out the mirror and some nice curtains. I agree on the wall color but A) it's not as bad in the daylight for some reason and B) I don't have it in me to paint again. Thank you all so much for your feedback!!! SOOOoo appreciated.

Try 'etsy' for unique artwork. You are able to buy prints and even originals at a very reasonable price. All of it is very unique from artists who sell their work.

There are all kinds of interesting things that you can put on walls. Framed antique maps of places you like, textiles, framed pages from books, antique signs, shallow baskets, etc.

Many spaces we see here look "fine" but they lack personality. Take some time to find things that have meaning to you and that will make you happy when you see them on the walls. Those things will elevate your space.

A fresh coat of paint and some curtains would really pull the room together. I agree with the first comment. Hand the rods higher so that it opens up the space a bit more.
