Check out realstone.com and upload your photos. You can begin to try other looks in say a ledgerstone. Hopefully you will reduce the size of it and tone it down.

You need a much larger piece of art - and I would suggest an unframed canvas.

In addition, and particularly since piece is in entry, a plant could be beautiful there + good Feng Shui.

Kind of loving the fireplace, as unique as it is. I would certainly edit, within decor, given the previous owner's choices. I'd also highly consider replacing the front door. The ornate windows compete with the ornate fireplace, and they really don't have much to do with each other. Keep it simple, let the fireplace be the showpiece it was meant to be?

you also walk in and hit the dining room, which is a bit off. its nice to sit and look at the fire from comfy furniture. do you have the option to lay out the spaces a bit different in your great room?

fireplace: the art and fireplace screen are hurting it.

but all of the redo wont help a lick if you end up using it as a setting down place as you walk in the door..... and not removing the things you've just set down. and that would be tricky where it is, so good arrival hygiene is essential.

Please no ledgerstone it is a dated look already the stone you have is much more interesting.

Had about the same fireplace in family....took it all down...too massive. Maybe change the hearth?

Ok rearrange your furniture so that table is not there. And no artwork. Let it stand alone maybe with just a short decoration or short copper wares on rt of hearth. Front doors are expensive to change. If you do not need the lights from the doors, consider asking a carpenter to router in something to fill those glass spots....or redo the glass opening shapes into a more geometric shape, then re glass them.
