Your photo with the rug is blurry, but I'd look to the rug for a wall color. The big TV cabinet is nice, but is too heavy and soaks up a lot of the room's light. They are dated these days, so consider selling it on Craig's List and getting a TV upgrade. Locating TV opposite the fireplace makes for a visual counterbalance to the FP. Then your two sofas can float perpendicular to the two focal points. They too are dated, so perhaps what you should be looking for is new seating, rather than paint. Paint is the last item selected for a decorating scheme as it should work with your fabrics and textiles. I'm all for redoing the two chairs. They are worth keeping but are too delicate and feminine for the overstuffed and dated sofas. Eliminate the TV center and the overstuffed pieces and start with the chairs (and possibly the rug) as your base for this nice room.
