Your brick color is called blonde or buff. If you search Houzz for buff brick pictures you'll get some nice ones. Since you're getting a new roof, see what roof colors are being shown with these warm brick colors. Quite a few of them seem to have gray-brown roofs, instead of a warm brown.

The SW color consultant suggested the brown roof....but I'm not sure. This is why I'm looking for more advice. Thank you!

The large gable over your front door is a nicely balanced feature of your roof line. Your front door would be enhanced with some cover over it. When it comes time for your new roof, consider extending it over your front door to form a portico over a small front entry. It would be practical and quite attractive. Houses with a Craftsman look often have prominent gables and you might get some ideas looking for that style gable.

I think wood shutters would be pretty with your brick. Or you could remove the shutters altogether. I like the color combination on this home:

Oh boy. Please don't do a brown roof. Nope. Black roof. Even if the color of roofing is labeled "black" it'll often read charcoal gray.

Ditch the undersized shutters and paint the gables and entry area cream.

Paint the door a fun color. Muted teal?

Invest in landscaping.

I like Lori's idea of a medium gray roof. If you can get a bit of a brownish gray that would be ideal. Not darker than the brick.

The eavestroughs should be the color of the roof or as close as possible. Downspouts painted the same color as the brick.

Your house would make an attractive Craftsman-style, especially if you decorated and/or extended your gable to a porch roof.

I prefer the darker roof. The browns just all blend together.

Thanks everyone. Here's an image with the Driftwood roof. Door color ideas? Siding white or creamy tan to match the brick? No shutters.

Keep in mind that the roof reflects more light than the siding, so it can appear much lighter than what you expect.

There was a sweet gal on one of the forums last year who did a great job choosing a roof that was darker than her siding, but once it was installed it looked like the same exact color.

Are you still thinking brown roof?

You need something to break up the wide peak over the front door. I like the idea, Katie, of your porch picture as another small peak, extended over that wide expanse would help the visual.

As @inabunker says, the gable needs some sort of decorative wood piece(s). The gable is so large that it unbalances the design a bit unless the expanse of it is broken up by a decorative trim. Very common with gables, and doesn't need to be elaborate or expensive.

If you add another gable within it as suggested above then you wouldn't do it.

The gable is part of the roof and should have a color similar to the roof, maybe a bit lighter if anything but a similar color. Not a color similar to the brick.

Is there any other siding on the house, or just the triangle gable in front?

It is the same nearly as my house. Do the beige a little darker.

Very nice @groveraxle. Today I drove through a subdivision where most of the houses looked very much like this. There were a lot of bad roof colors - too orange, too reddish, and too gray. The plain gray didn't look good at all. The yellow in the house made the plain gray look very blue and it wasn't a good look. The best one was a brown gray, this one. The roof color picked up the same brown-gray tone in the stacked stone under the picture window, and to the right of the door.

If you do a portico, you'll need a stoop to match and a wider walkway. And I think the portico should probably match the siding.

Thank you all for your ideas! I'm definitely going with the dark grey roof now - thank you so much for steering me away from the brown! Painting the siding very similar to the brick. I think until the landscaping grows we need to keep the shutters and then we can remove them. I'm thinking the door and shutters a dark blue? New black sconces on either side of the door. New house numbers above door. Move mailbox. We do want to do a porch to break up that gable and add more curb appeal/function in the near future. I wonder how hard that would be to do ourselves? Also I want to add a blossoming tree on the right this spring. (Oh, and partim there are triangle gables on both sides of the house as well.)

Those shutters are just wrong. I would remove them now.
