LG Washer/Dryer Installation Clearances

Hi all,

We are planning on purchasing an LG front-loading washer and dryer for our new home (model #s WM3770HVA and DLGX3371V). The washer will be mounted on a small LG SideKick pedestal washer. The dryer will be mounted on a matching pedestal. There is precisely 54.0" of space available between our floor and laundry cabinets.

LG's "Measure First" laundry installation PDF (...which does not appear to be model-specific) states that LG washers and dryers stacked on matching pedestals require a minimum of 54.7" for installation. However, upon looking at the exact listed dimensions of our selected appliances, it appears that the washer and dryer stacked on their pedestals will be no taller than 52-13/16" (38-11/16" + 14-1/8"). I visited an appliance showroom that had our selected washer and dryer stacked on pedestals on display. I measured their stacked height with a tape measure and voila: 52-13/16".

Does anyone have any experience installing these washers, dryers and pedestals? Why would LG claim they require 54.7" height when they measure 52-13/16" in person? Even accounting for leveling issues, I don't think this would alter the height more than an inch. Will these fit in my space or should I consider something else?
