In my bathroom dreams I had envisioned creamy white vanity but it stands out like a sore thumb.. Wondering if I should do something like this to tie in my floor elsewhere, To say the entire house is unique would be an understatement!

And the entire house needs to be calmed down with some painted choices and removal of some of that stone and wood. Less is more. More is not more. More is worse.

Less is not happening which is why I came here for help. He loves the stone and is unwilling to part with it. The brick in real life is gorgeous .... it's the stone that is the issue. It belongs outside not indoors!

Wow! Very unique stone and brick work. Beautiful craftsmanship and history in that- I understand why your husband wants to cling to that, but also understand it limits you design-wise. I agree with Sophie- do not bring in any more graining, the space is already busy enough with that stone wall. Definitely a painted vanity (I would go lighter so the space doesn't get too dark and cramped) or if you must go with a wood- try something with less variation, like Maple. I think you could still attain your dream of a creamy white vanity- it just needs to be the right color and more creaminess as opposed to white. You definitely have a challenge on your hands, but your situation does not seem without hope. Best of luck to you!

I do! I've attached some photos from an online search just to help you visualize. I understand they are not the exact fieldstone as you have existing in your home, but the concept of pulling a lighter color from the stone (be it creams or grays) is there. Please note-none of the photos are ours.

A plain painted off white vanity would be fine. Pick out a light color from the rock and use that as a guide to pick your tile. Then match the paint for the vanity to the tile color. Nothing is going to upstage the rock.

Does anyone like any of these colors not cabinet style-just color? I know it's tough from a photo but I'm wondering if cream or more of a tan might be better

The big tan one on the left is good. More drawers, less shelving.

If your husband absolutely won’t budge on removal of the stone, would he consider filling in the grout joints more and doing an overgrout technique (using a mortar color that blends in..not a contrasting color). It might help to tone it down a bit by disguising the harsh edges of the stone. I would go more for the look of the pic with the blue shutters as more of the edges appear to be covered.

Those stones are too large. They can be painted over with masonry paints to break up their size a bit. But IMO, it looks too Flintstonish. But maybe some of these pics will inspire you both and hopefully allow for a compromise.

I would use a simple and neutral limestone or porcelain. As for cabinetry I recommend a greyed stain that has some warmth to it. Good luck and have a great weekend!
