Hi there! So my concern is in our front yard. We bought the house nearly 6 years ago. The previous owners had done a lot of landscaping on the yard, but unfortunately put several plants that get very large together and they tend to grow into each other now. For example, the issue in question, they planted a smaller rose and at least 2(maybe 3) Loropetalums all around this small Dogwood tree, so they are surrounding it completely.

When we trimmed the Loropetalums last year, we were able to see the damage to the base of the tree--most of the bark is gone and it appears to have a lot of damage. What do we need to do here? Can the tree be saved or does it need to come up? I honestly liked the tree better than the bushes any way, but it looks pretty bad down there... Tree still puts out leaves and flowers, but I understand they will do that despite being severely damaged any way. Advice?
