CBD (Cannabidiol) oil

Never heard of it until today on CBS This Morning.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cbd-oil-cannabidiol-rise-in-popularity/

They mentioned some people find success using it to treat psoriasis and eczema.

Have any of you tried it?

There was a thread a while ago. I have no experience but am thinking about it for an elderly dog.

Come to Colorado, you can buy it at the Farmer's Market.

It's interesting because our church has a high percentage of severely handicapped children. My dd wondered if they were here because of the CBD, which many think help a number of health conditions.

With dogs you have to be careful that whatever you give them has absolutely no THC (the part that makes you high) because it can make them very sick.

I like using Pubmed.gov for researching unusual medical treatments.

Commented in the other thread but will restate for this one. Have been using CBD oil for some time. It helps a lot with pain for me and my husband. Do a google to read the benefits. There will be naysayers that will show up to pooh pooh but research and try it for yourself.

I saw CBD oil mentioned in a forum for parents of gifted children, in a thread on anxiety. There was a suggestion of how to take it, though. Drops, I think? Considering it for my son.

I have some for my RA...I just got it online.

No luck with it but I can't seem to find out if it's something that has to build up in your system, like a supplement, of if you're supposed to get instant relief.

For my intense pain, I might use what's not exactly legal where I live...I'm not saying one way or another. But there are strains specifically for pain. Doctors keep making me beg for pain relief so I don't have much choice if I want any sort of quality of life.

I have two different cousins in two different states that use it for pain relief. They both have said they need the maximum dose. Not sure how it's dosed. Maybe as needed? But if they use enough it does work. I don't mean that to say take a whole bottle but if a drop doesn't do it, try 2 drops. If you are using the cream, use it until it helps; as often or as much.

Chronic pain is so exhausting. I think I would try about anything. Every body is different with many chemicals, there is only one way to know how it will affect YOU. I hope those of you needing relief find it soon.

Very interesting! I have, for some time now, been driving by a store here in town that sells it and wondered about what it was, exactly. They also had a sign advertising a formulation for dogs.

In Oregon marijuana is completely legal, and CBD is included. I've tried various remedies-I've smoked it (no or very low THC), tried edibles and tried topicals. I have had the best success with topicals, the edibles did nothing for me. Smoking it is ok, but it's very harsh on my lungs. It's been recommended to try it in a vape pen, which is not smoke but vapor. It does nothing for my arthritis pain, but it does do wonders for my fibromyalgia. I apply a cream to my back (or have DH do it for me) and it helps with my back pain. I also have a spray form that works wonders on my foot when my plantar fasciitis and tendonitis flare up. The spray works better on my foot than any where else. The spray I use has a minute amount of THC, I've been told it does not show up on drug tests-not that I worry about that!

My stepfather was taken off 40 MG of Oxcycodone per day and replaced it with edibles and found it helped him tremendously. He had the kind with THC for bedtime and CBD only during the day. I also know another guy who was practically on morphine for pain relief who takes the oil and swears by it.

A friend gives her dog a special dog blend CBD and her dog has no ill effects.

I've heard that children who have seizures benefit tremendously from it and there was a huge concentration of people moving to Colorado after it was legalized to get their children on the medical forms of marijuana. Obviously the children don't smoke it.

Here’s an article from Epicurious about cooking with it.

I understand that cbd oil derived from hemp is legal...

I had no problem getting it delivered here...

Derived from cannabis wouldn't be though, right?. It's so confusing and who's up for all of this research when they're simply wanting some relief from pain?

Ok, well I may try this. At the worst I'm out $50. I've been paying more than that for doctor visits and not getting any relief.

It is also my understanding that CBD is legal in all states.

I order from: https://highlandpharms.com/best-cbd-hemp-oil-extract with no problems and find their site to be informative. All the info I've read about dosing suggests it isn't an exact science and It is usually suggested to begin low and go from there.

I tried it. Couple products by different companies. My doctor recommended it. (well after I asked-it's a federal hospital, so they can't initiate the conversation but can recommend when patient asks. I had no idea about all that setup, so I was shy to ask for years. She was insanely happy I must say when I did ask))

I was dissappointed-helps the first two-three days, than you need to take more and more and more, to get any effect, (much like with sleeping pills), and it costs like liquid gold.

In my case, smoking helps much more. I'm very timid about it though..very wrong time to be timid about it, especially as it all legal, and even my kids gently told me they won't think anything bad and encourage me to use whatever helps..

I suspect it all depends on a condition, and, of course, on an individual

I had a lots of inexplicable things with all sorts of medications going on, and medications can be very simple and over the counter even, and all normal people benefit, and I have all sorts of horrid side effects, allergies, and whatnot. So I never even try new medication ever without creating close-to-perfect conditions..)) to eliminate it immediately the moment it goes wrong.

Or you know how some people are not helped by this brand by only by that brand, and it's the same list of ingredients? who knows

the only thing I know-the oil was money thrown away, in my case. and somebody else might find it very helpful. one wouldn't know until he tries.

If you are thinking of trying it for a dog, we have been using this one I found on Amazon (you can subscribe and get a discount). DH heard about using hemp for dogs from a co-worker and we decided to try it for our younger dog's arthritis and the older dog in general (we thought she was having some anxiety issues, but it may have been a food-related behavior). It seemed to help the older dog - certainly hasn't hurt anything and it seemed to make a big difference for the younger one. She is 8 and was moving around like a puppy again. Over many months, she has slowed down a bit as she's gotten used to her new normal, but she still walks with less stiffness.

Bpathome, DH tried hemp hearts that he found in a bag at Costco. He wanted to try them for his knee after seeing how the hemp chew treats helped our dog. He thought they helped, but he was eating them with yogurt and stopped eating yogurt in the cooler months. I tried them too. Sprinkling a spoonful or two on yogurt, cereal, ice cream, or in smoothies could be something to try.

WOW this is really rather old news. It was BIG last year at this time. One is hard pressed even in my small midwest town to find a store front NOT selling it. Many friends were swearing by it for all sorts of ailments...with in 9 mos no one was using it anymore. The body builds up an immunity or something. It's value was short lived.
