I thought about painting the living room white but think that might br too stark with white. Also thought about leaving the sofa wall white. I'm lost.

You need to carry the red around . Is this the red sofa ? it doesn't really look like a true red from here ,do you have a better picture of it ?

I agree with Genvieve, bring a little red into the hallway and you've accomplished your goal. I would also consider painting the console table in the hallway red instead of the green.

I will add a close up of the sofa in a bit. It is a tweed Red gold and a tad of green if you look closely. I have the same green in my den which connects to the living/dining room. The area is very open. Almost too open. I love the pillows you suggested and the paintings. I love art (art major) and bright colors but comfortable and homey and light I don't think that's too much to ask. I've already painted a large lamp silver this afternoon an a few picture frames. Think ill look for gray white and yellow curtains. As for the entry table I just painted it a couple of months ago so ill just get some red accents. You guys are awesome. Thanks!

Also I've tried adding a chair but its a little too narrow. Ill keep looking.

I love the entry way (don't change any of it) with the yellow walls... I think the couch might need to go bye bye however, try this first... get some bright solid pillow from say Crate and Barel and a grey or bright throw for the couch.I would try a bright rug maybe turquoise and have one of the pillows be the same color. Remove the candles and their holders on the yellow wall on the right and put up a larger colorful art piece of your own with some of the colors in it.I don't think I like the location of the clock either... you already have that shape in the mirror of the entry. You might try switching places with them. The clock could look smashing over the fun green table. Get rid of the photos at the bottom of the table, you can not see them there, maybe put some baskets there for outdoor items... and one photo frame on the top of the table. Then maybe decIde if you want to change the couch. Don't get a grey striped rug... too boring, you need more color. Hope this is an affordable way to make some minor changes. Christine Nelson Design

Tha.nks Christine. I will try switching some things around. I have already taken down the crosses and added a white table there. I have also added more liver and red on the table getting rid of the couch is not really n option right now it was expensive and I just got it last year. I love the colors red and yellow together and the apple green as well. Maybe I'm just trying to put too much together. I'll look for pillows too ill post again when I get more done. Thanks again.

love the gray and white stripes. You should remove the photos from the bottom shelf they look cluttered. And paint the living room. White or maybe a fun blue. it will go with the couch. and reconsider your accessories. Do you really love them? other wise get rid of them.

Hi Wynama, the problem is that you have cold colors(silver and green) in one room and warm colors(yellow and red) in another. To have both rooms work you need to take the same green as the table and paint the walls with it. The green will work with the red sofa because green is a complimentary color to red. Both rooms will work as one, especially by implementing some silver accents over the green walls. Good luck with the room.

If you paint it white. Get a few more of the colors you like, yellows, green apple, maybe blue in the same tone, lighter and deeper spread through out the room and it won't look too stark. And how about a dark area rug to anchor the space.

that looks nice. Your colors are pretty. But it doesn't really look good with the hall way. Too many accessories. And do you really love all those things?

I would straighten the end table and remove the white thing and the thing that looks like a chocolate ice cream cone.

I can see what look you are going for. The hall is chic, modern with pops of color. Then you come into saturated color and it feels like a totally different house. The scale of the white table is too tall and small for your sofa. The yellow is beautiful but it is not complementing your beautiful sofa. Your art is full of color and would pop more on a different color as well.

Too much? I'm trying to find some sort if patterned pillows. I have hung fray curtains opposite the sofa. Yes maybe the table is too tall. Ill look for another. This one was my aunts old sewing machine. I have an old pedal sewing machine upstairs I could put a top on. I will put metal or wicker baskets on the bottom shelf on the table. The brown thing on the floor is my wood floor sample. I like a lot of color and like to mix old with new.

The hallway looks complete, and ties in with your living room much better! Now to remove at least half of all things on your tables--less is more. I think you should replace one of those round wall decor with something in a square frame.

You have too much going on and two different styles. The green hall table fits with your living room. You might love your grey hallway and mirror but if you did a different colour say a lighter shade of yellow and a mirror to compliment the table and pick up on your wall accessories in the living room it would tie in beautifully. I think you are having so much trouble with your living room because you're trying to match it to your hallway. Also the hallway would be a cheaper fix. I love both but not together. Good luck

But do you see why they relate to each other? The important thing about collections of things is that they relate to each other by color, style or purpose.

What I think you should pay attention to is in each of those pictures that you love. The scale of the objects are perfectly coordinated. Large mirror, small and medium and large objects. It makes your eye flow. Too many objects the same size look cluttered.

This any better? I'm hoping that when we get the wood floors with wide white baseboards that will also pull it together.
