If you have a secretary already or are thinking of hiring soon... one perk for her/him would be to have a part/say in what to do with space. For something so small, one person's thought for 'improvement' might be very different from someone else. With that said, I'd next want to know what your budget is. Though hard to see, it seems that you could use some built in's (drawers beneath the desk, shelving that utilizes floor to ceiling (not just floor to mid-height) and slender shelves (or varied widths) above desk for a variety of objects/tools, etc. The floor should be cleared as best as possible (nix small table) and walls should be used to the fullest, with cork board and mounting/storage systems. "reorganising"?....hope your secretary can spell. May I suggest you clear the area of your things and take a cue from your secretary what he will require. He may only need a laptop and a chair.

I think the ability to look outside and to open the doors out automatically visually doubles the space of the room - so it could be my favorite office ever if the climate allows me to keep doors open sometimes while I work! It seems there are only two options - to face the side wall with back to the door or face the wall with back to the glass doors. If it were me, I think I would switch it around by switching desk to far wall and put shelves to right of art glass. That way, I could naturally and easily glance in as I passed to see if it was a good time to interrupt them, but also so they could look outside while they worked. You do have a door between you, so the ability to climate control or sound control can be separated when you need it.

Hopefully they are there to make your life easier, and organize your files and papers. Make it easy for you - that is their new job - to take things off your hands and bring order.

They will have to love having their own little space - so many people these days do not. If you are comfortable with it, move an outdoor chair to right outside and let them know when they are on break they can go out and check their personal messages ( a signal they should not do that on your time) and handle any personal calls they might have. That starts to draw some boundaries - and you can say how long a break / when / is appropriate.

ps I believe the british still use the s in organizing as they do in several other words that we use zod for. Specialisation is another . . .
