Help with Paint Color Selection

HI.

I am trying to pick my paints for the first time in life!! So I need lots of help.

I have a north-west (more west than north) facing family room, which doubles as our breakfast/dinner room. It does not get much sunlight in the morning - but that's when we all have breakfast before we all leave the house for school and work. In the afternoon it does have a lot of light - almost until the sunset. In summer this means we get light till about 8:00 PM but sometimes I need to keep the blinds close because the sun is in the eye.

I personally like bright colors, but my family is not sure about any adventure. I was thinking of Sherwin Williams Stonebriar - but not sure if it will be too bright for their taste. Next I thought BM Revere Pewter but then I am reading it could be dull in a darkish room. Can someone help with a color that will warm us up in the morning but more of a neutral shade?

Another thought - perhaps I could paint one accent wall with a brighter color? But then I have no idea how to identify the wall that will be the accent wall; and also, what color will be good?

Thank you so much for helping.
