The second or third on the board you show looks like they would be nice. I would not go dark such as the one on the far right that you have with the three lined up for a few reasons.

Typically, match the lightest tone in your counter top close as possible. Given all the pattern in the counters it will be a lot fresher and prettier with a lighter tone and also the space being on the smaller side. Love the pendants!

Monitors are very tricky and are not true to what you see in person. I favor the second one as it appears on my monitor then the third. Very difficult to say what the seventh sample tone is on the board. Appears off white?

I like 3rd from left. I'd keep it light. It looks more crisp than the second one to me.

I love the one that is right in the middle on the sample board. Looks like it will tie in your wall paint and counters with out being too dark or too yellow.

Is the tile on the floor is more of a brown tone?

Floor is grey with some taupe in it reads more grey in person.
The center sample on the first photo is gloss white. it is the same as 2nd from right on the large tile board. This is the husband's first choice.

It appears a bit too white against the counter. However, it is mostly likely the photo taken appearing very warm making the counters look almost brown. Would love to see it taken over again as the other photos aside from that one is completely different so it's very hard to see/say.

What is the name of the tile Stepanie so we can look it up and see the colors?

Here is a better photo of light grey and white.

    ah, yes.... that's nice...

do you have the same type of sample of the second from the left to place next to your husbands favorite?

if you mean the one off the multi sample board, no that one read with pink undertones in person so we did not consider it.

gotcha, it looks perfect on the board... naturally, in your home and in your lighting things change. I do prefer the white your husband prefers over the gray for your space! Which to you like?

I was always thinking white, but we had a change in countertop due to a 4 week back order that I was not willing to wait for. so I changed my counter and this one has almost no white in it so I was second guessing whether it would be to stark a contrast.

What is the third from the left... just curious? It's not as gray as the one you posted last I don't believe as it looks lighter, but?

It's hard to read as I made it too small... the second tile asks you if this is the one in fact that leans pink in your space?

Then, the one next to it with the arrow I ask what are your thoughts on it? It looks less gray than what you put next to the stark white in the last photo you posted. If I had the name of the tiles I could see them better on the computer and not ask you all this...yet? I see how the second could turn pink... maybe the third as well.. then I go to 7 and wonder what your thoughts were on that.

With the floors and counters I just wish you could get a pinch less white so the walls and the cupboards are not all one. However, it is not a giant space so it will be fine I'm sure and the backsplash it not terribly tall.

I thought by knowing the name I could see the colors larger on my computer is all.

    added link to tile above.
Any other ideas for a different type of tile are welcome. I looked at a hex but thought it would be too busy
  • 8 years ago
The 3rd from left is the same grey as in the last pic I posted with the white and the grey.

I agree you might stick with something linear for you backsplash vs a Hex or something with a lot of grout lines. The third from the left shows a lot darker when against your wall than on the board with the counter IMO so I'd go with the white. I guess I missed the link of the tile name you have on hand or it isn't showing? You never said which you prefer of the bunch :) If you can provide the link great.

If you want other suggestions that's no problem at all. As I said I'd still go linear even if it was a kite shape and keep it simple. Not sure of your timeline, where you can purchase in your region as I'm sure you are close to done and don't want to order samples from tried and true vendors and wait them and so on?

What are some tile places in your area and the one you got the board if they have a website. I personally feel if your husband loves the white you might just go with it. Yet, I asked what you like and you didn't reply.

I see a link in my mail and believe it's cloud your husband prefers? It came to my email from this thread as I apologize, but don't see it here.

    Is this a local vendor?

I am in Canada, this is our local home center, they have a number of suppliers.

You know, I say go with your gut. If your gut pulls you to the white I do not think in any way you will dislike it. Can you be one the hunt for a just off white or something from the lightest tone in your backsplash.. yes.

In this photo I do love the one on the left vs the right due to the floors and the counter and the mix of colors as well as the size of the kitchen. We tend to start to over think things. If you are still questioning what your husband prefers I'd look for a different tone of white as in off white with NO yellow or creamy tones. I can sent you some examples, but don't know how long you want to wait for this.

This is one I often recommend yet, I do not feel it is very different from what you have chosen on the left as a sample:

it is called, "Lancaster Bianco" and it's at tilebar.com

This is another I often recommend it's white, but has a touch of gray also from tilebar.com

Those are both nice. I really like the o e with grey edges. will have to see if I can source something here. not sure if tilebar ships to Canada.

Where are you in Canada? Anywhere near Toronto? There are a lot of tile stores nearby to Yorkdale mall in Toronto, just south of the 401. The biggest is Olympia Tile(not a great website) also Saltillo Imports and many more in that general area of the city. If you can take an afternoon to wander around in that area you'll find a huge number of choices and advice.

In southern manitoba, I have done some searching at different places. I am always looking online and trying to source through tile stores here as well.
