Long story short: We're renovating/redesigning our deck and will have the opportunity to have not only a dining area but also a couple of lounge chairs. Elsewhere in our garden I've stayed with extremely low-maintenance pieces. Around the fire pit we have Adirondack chairs made from recycled milk jugs that add a "pop" of color but can be cleaned easily (I swear) with just soap & water. We also have a couple of Fermob "Sixties" lounge chairs for the kids in the garden which do the same thing -- provide color but are low, low maintenance.

I've shied away from cushions anywhere because I don't want the hassle of dealing with them but for a lounge chair I'm resigned to saying they really do make for a more comfy "sit." We want to (finally) encourage folks to come out onto the deck to read/sip a drink, etc.

Our main finalist is the Huron (large) lounge chair from West Elm. I've always shied away from their furniture because -- as many on these boards have commented -- I'm concerned about the quality. But this chair is mighty comfy, and given that it comes with an ottoman would get us the ideal layout (two chairs facing one another with ottoman in between). They sell covers for the winter which (mostly) deals with the maintenance issue... but in any event I'm curious what people's experience has been with this chair. It's been selling for at least two years, so many people own it but West Elm doesn't have reviews on their site. Here's a photo of the chair to help:

If you own this chair, what's your experience been? I guess from West Elm I don't expect this piece to last 15 years, but on the other hand it would be pretty awful to see it fall apart after just three. FWIW we're in the Mid-Atlantic region, near Washington, D.C. so the weather is hot & humid in the summer, but we definitely get some snow in the winter as well. The area where these would be placed is in a shady area with mature trees.
