July, 2018 Quilting/Sewing Goals

Busy busy week for us.......Daughter, Granddaughter and 2 Great-Granddaughters are here for the week. The oldest great-grand is 17 and the little one will be 1 on the 19th. What fun (exhaustion) we're having.....and it's only been one full day! Beach day tomorrow.......probably not much sewing this week but I might get some help from the great-grand in sandwiching. :-)

Here's my list for this month:

Finish Elephant

Finish pink baby quilt for Jackie

Finish doll quilts

Sew Hopscotch blocks together...maybe

FB BOM/Delphi BOM

Finish sashing on 16 Rails

Do you have a wanna do list this month?

Sharon, have fun with your girls! Are the great-grands sisters? That's a big age difference! My brother is 17 years older than me, and 19 years older than my sister.

This month I want to finish the baby quilt for Jackie. I finished the top yesterday, just need to assemble backing and quilt and bind it. I don't know what else I feel like working on this month. I have another full size top ready to quilt, and a king size top that needs backing assembled then it will be ready to quilt. I'm also thinking about sewing some clothes and maybe reorganizing my sewing closet. We'll see. :)

    Enjoy those girls, Sharon!!

The little girls' quilts are back from the quilter. They are very pretty. So now it is binding time. Going to be a long process, two large twins, hand sewn to back. That should fill July!

Well, I have three quilts sandwiched and ready to quilt. One is for a shower on July 12, so I know I'll finish that one. I'd like to get the others finished also. I need to choose the next quilt top to work on. I'll have to check Bonnie Hunter's site to see if anything there appeals to me. These are two I'd like to try some day too. I found the photos on the web.

Lois, that’s a very cool log cabin! It must be either uneven strips or a different arrangement of light and dark.

I want to quilt as many tops as I can this month. I did 8 last month and finished hand sewing the binding on the last one. I have a quilt loaded and ready to quilt. I am doing all my Bonnie Hunter tops first, two more to go!

I've developed a "bad" habit of checking Missouri Star Quilt Co. web site every morning for the daily deal. Those jelly rolls are a really good buy and too good to pass up. I've bought three in the last couple of months and almost bought two or three more. I have one or two patterns that work with jelly rolls but could use more ideas. As for July goals, I'm just playing with whatever appeals to me. I haven't had a lot of time to do that lately. There's nothing I have to finish.

Fran, Kimberly Einmo has designed lots of jelly roll patterns. :) (I love being an enabler.)

Whoa! Do you people ever sleep??? Anyway, the one (and only) project that I have going that I'd like to finish is the quilt using the first set of Kaffe Fassett charm squares that I gifted myself with. I'm almost done with the quilting. I finally kept my promise to try to "loosen up" and not have such tedious tight quilting, I'm doing a simple, open meandering FM on it. I have my eyes on a quilt I saw in a magazine and I will be getting onto my EQ program to try to work it out since I'm too cheap to buy the pattern. I still have two sets of charm packs to work with.

Donna, The oldest great-grand belongs to a son of my oldest daughter and the young one (there's one younger) belongs to the daughter of my second daughter. Her son is dad to the youngest.....I have not held her yet. She'll be one in Sept.

Looks like everyone has a plan even if it's a 'whatever I feel like' plan. Sometimes we just have to do that! I got the 4th border on the Elephant and pressed it while the family went to the local beach. That's about as much as I got done, but I'm not pushing it this week. Enjoy your week, everyone.

My July goal is to sew something. ANYTHING. My machine has been stowed since Irma - last September! Oh, but my fingers are itchin'!!! MAYbe sometime in July. and soooo many things on my want-to list! Even a valance for my kitchen. or two. and maybe a couple of tiers. That would be sooooo nice!

What a week we have had.....plus, today is the Geezer's 83rd birthday so that got celebrated before all the gals left around 8pm. I am so tired but am so happy they could all be here. The only thing that got done in the sewing area is a backing on one of the doll quilts. But, that's ok. Maybe I can finish it this week-end.

I have 99% of all my sewing gear placed downstairs. Some minor tweaking to do. Will work on that. I am trying to come up with an idea for a design wall but don't want to put holes, nails, screws etc. in the new drywall. The Mr. would not be happy.

Maybe Command strips or the like. Thinking!!!

I have 2 free-standing 4'x8'x2" foam insulation sheets that I covered with flannel. They just lean against the wall with one on top of the other unless the quilt is wider than 4'.
