The opposite wall (where the TV is currently hanging) looks longer. Could you rotate the sectional and use that wall instead? That might fit better.

Will it fit in front of the bay? I realize that there will be a gap behind it, but it looks like the shorter end of the sectional will then be against the wall and it will be facing the opening of the room.

If you keep it there, find a screen to hide the corner.

So I can’t move it to the tv wall bc it’s too short - there is a angled wall coming towards the hallway... I’ll try to post better photos tomorrow during the day .... also the windows face the front porch and a very low and it would look worse having the couch cover up the window and also look bad from the front of the house

I would not want the room closed off like that. I would flip it and if you have to lose a part of the sectional to make it fit--then so be it.

can you reduce a piece along the wall on the right, in the last photo, til its new furniture time? i cant see how many bits there are in the row. looks like a one armed chair at the end, i'd put that someplace else...like the basement, and end with the armless 2 person part if thats what it is. move it all over, end with a table or book case to finish it off where the arm will be missing.

I would get a big pretty pot and put a tall plant/ tree in the spot.

Right now, I'm agreeing with ninigret - remove the two pieces that are sticking out ad put an end table there. You might be able to place the disconnected loveseat section elsewhere in the room. It is a nice house and the portion stick out into the hallway looks ridiculous. I would rather hang drapes and have the sectional block part of the window than have it in the hallway like this.

The most effective solution would be to extend that wall out a bit. Options will depend on clearance through the hallway and the possibility to eliminate part or all of the soffit which may or may not be hiding some ductwork. If the soffit can go, consider framing out a faux column on either side of the entrance to hallway. If there wont be a minimum of 36" between them, the alternative could be a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf partition as an extension of the one problematic wall. Finishing the wall extension similar to the stain and grain of your doors would make the addition look to be an intentional, cohesive design element as opposed to a quick-fix afterthought. If neither option will work because of structural and spatial needs, a pedestal table, floor lamp, or substantial plant on the back of the couch would be a manageable solution.

Can you remove pieces until it looks like a sofa and then pull it forward enough so you can slide it more toward the window? Then place a sofa table behind it with a couple of tall buffet table lamps or a large lamp with addt'l decor.

Otherwise, I'd look for a large, stable vase (one the baby can't pull over easily). Pier One has a nice selection.

A tall umbrella stand with a collection of vintage walking canes/umbrellas in it would also work. Here's a visual I found......colors & design will depend on your style.

thank you, it had fewer sections than i thought. abandon it. sell it. buy the right sized furniture when you can afford it. don't spend good money trying to make it fit.

this happens, you are far from the first person to own a too large sectional. separate pieces of furniture can be divided up in different spaces.... sometimes center bits of sectionals can be an armless chair somewhere...

Could you put a console table behind the couch and then push the couch over so that the end of the couch is in front of part of the window? If you were to put drapes/curtains on the windows, the curtain on the left of that window would hide the end of the couch and not be seen from outside.

I'd probably stick a plant there until you can afford new furniture. Sectionals can be great in a modern open floor plan, but often don't work at all in older homes with smaller, more enclosed rooms.

Those are pretty windows. I was going to say the same.....if you pull it away from the wall a bit, you might even be able to push it in to the room more, of course then it would be up against the left window. The sectional doesn't extend into the hall beyond that TV wall, so if you pull it from the left wall a bit it might look better. Those furniture coasters make moving easy so you could at least try a few things.

We have a similar Pottery Barn sectional, though it's longer with a wedge. It sure is comfy. Mine is against one wall, and the other side is against a beam and pony wall. It extends just past the beam, and I was surprised what a difference it made just pulling it in to the room by about 10 inches and away from the walls.

Second the poster who said “float it.” It looks like you have the space to do so, and it will eliminate the problem.

Yes this was a dining room but we had no use for it and it was surprisingly pretty far from the kitchen. I love the windows and I do not like the look of furniture blocking windows but we will try some things... I’ll post some photos of it moved out from the wall and more close to the window ..... it’s like a frickin Tetris game lol ..... the home was built in 99 and we are slowing modernizing it .... put in new floors and painted walls and ceiling.... next are lights and furniture for the other rooms.... life with a husband buying electronics and kids and their toys ..... my favorite room= the all season room!

The sectional would look great in the family room. Maybe consider some reading chairs and/or an home office/study space in the front room. Love the sun room view.

As someone else suggested pull it away from the wall so it can go deeper into the room. You could even put a sofa table behind it.

I think I’ll leave it like this for awhile - maybe a skinny sofa table behind it like you suggest. Beats buying a new couch when we have two other rooms that will be used more often and that need to furnished....
