Kitchen Paint Color Help

Hi everyone, I'm new to Houzz so please bare with me. We are getting all new stainless appliances this weekend and I'd really like to paint our kitchen. I have various colorful pottery items around my kitchen and not plans of changing the floor or cabinets. Is there any ideas out there if a color that would look good or am I stuck with white? Thanks in advance for the help!

Thank you, I actually didn't realize this was an older photo I have updated the hardware it's all a nickel finish now so it will match the appliances. A sage green might look nice. I always wanted a yellow kitchen but I think that would look bad with my wood. I was also thinking maybe a tan color?

I used to have yellow with the stained cabinets and loved it,,,you can buy sample sizes of paint at places like Home Depot or Lowe's (others too I am sure). get you a yellow and paint a small area ….see how you like it.

Did you have cabinets around my finish or were they darker? I'm just worried yellow walls will make the wood look yellowish.

they were close to your finish. I didn't experience that. they is why I would get a sample or two and try small areas to see how you like it. I loved mine.

If you choose yellow consider more earthy tones. The bright clear yellows like are in your pottery clash with the cabinets imo.

Yes that was the tone of yellow I was thinking. I just truly don't think I'll like it yellow. I'm currently leaning towards blue maybe something a tiny bit darker then this kitchen.

I do have a great blog post re: the best paint colours for wood cabinets. I could write them all here, but it it's just easier to send you the link, hopefully one will strike your fancy and teach you a bit about your kitchen! https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/the-best-paint-colours-to-go-with-oak-wood/

Hmm I do see tans we're mentioned often in that blog to go with yellow or orange toned cabinets. which I was thinking tan too. our living room is tan though and I'd like rooms in my home to be different colors from one another.

We're still waiting on a few appliances to be delivered but here is an updated photo of the stove area where you can also see the new hardware for the cabinets I got.

I have similar tone cabinets and my walls are cream - with a touch of beige to set off the white trim.

    My kitchen:

Sage and green/ gray walls look really pretty in similar kitchens. I went with the creamy beige to keep the room light. I love my under cabinet lighting. I only added a small amount between my sink and range. It adds a lot to the kitchen and it is very helpful. Consider getting some especially if you go with a darker wall color.

One of my favorite go to colors is BM Wilmington Tan because depending on the light it can look more brown or more yellow/gold. And it changes throughout the day.

The problem with blues is that it can pull out the orange of the cabinets more because blue is the complement of orange. When you put complements next to one another, it enhances the other color. So blue next to orange makes both appear more orange or blue. Yellow next to purple makes both appear more yellow or purple and red next to green makes both the red and green appear more so.

This is the blue pulled from the photo you showed.

It was suggested a sage green would look good and I agree. Just make sure to keep it more to the yellower end of the spectrum and not the blue end.

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for those edits! It really helps me see what it would look like. I really like the sage green and the blue! I think I've officially ruled out tan now though, I'm not as big of a fan of that seeing it now.

I really like I may go with the sage green. That's my favorite of the edits. We've made appliances progress. Installed the new dishwasher last night. Before and After Below.
