I understand that this small shower would definitely still have splashed water out of it. I think a floor mat is required. BTW, what's the smallest dimension of the shower you think would be sufficient for this kind of design?

A rain head that is situated close to the wet wall that is pointing straight downward will splash less than a traditional wall-mounted shower head. Be sure that all people who will be using the shower regularly like rain heads, though! A hand held will still be needed to get to some places, and using that spray will be problematic for the open area. I have often wondered why people can't use a small clear shower curtain in the open area.

Even a 36” deep shower will have splash out. You’d need to be closer to 48” to contain it all inside. And you start to get so much can look me thatbit is cold.

A doorless shower needs walls, glass, or extra room heating.

Depending on the design of the shower, you might get away with 42" deep. But for the most part, I agree with Sophie.

My daughter has a doorless shower in her guest bathroom. It is 58 " in length, and 36 in wide. The curb is aproximate 3 in. (could be 4 in). The wall of fixed shower glass is 36 in. in length and 76 in. high. The opening is 24 in. I had pictures but for the life of me I can't find them. I had the measurements because we were thinking of moving our shower for more room. Our current one at home is very small.

The shower has a rain shower head along with the bar that holds the hand shower.

We love it when we stay there. It works plain and simple.

Not saying it's not done. What I AM saying is it's not recommended.

I inherited a doorless shower that is only 36” deep. The only reason it works at all is that there is nothing close to it that can’t get wet, and I put a towel down at the entry to absorb the splash out .

If the entry opening were closer to the rear of the shower, there would be less splash out, and less laundry. But it would still get water outside the shower without a full height wall of some material next to the shower head portion.

The great offender to getting water outside is when I shampoo my hair, and the water flows down my arms to run off at the elbows. It has enough force to go quite a distance. I slightly modified my stance to lessen that, but it still happens. I looked at putting in a door, but I’m not the type that would develop good habits to squeegee it. More laundry is just easier.
