I would do the whole pantry wall the white

and then the other base cabinets and the island can be the grey. it would give good balance.

Skip paintIng the pantry wall....just add runner rugs or larger rugs to bring in the extra color which livens up this beautiful kitchen. Rugs are easy to stand on in the work areas, and add texture and color (use non-slip pads under them). Hang art where you have available wall space.

I agree with adding rugs and accessories to this kitchen rather than painting some of the cabinetry grey. With the current wood floor it would be harder to choose a complementary gray. I’ve read (on Houzz) sage greens best compliment the oak tone trim & floors so try adding gray with green undertone paint on the walls. Then add rugs, different counter stools and more colorful accessories before going through the expense and time of cabinetry painting on what look like nice white cabinets in good shape. Please post pictures of your progress and completed project.

The only thing I would change in your kitchen is the black counters. I would get something more current, not dark, and no 3" backsplash. There are so many beautiful stones available in granite and quartzite. I'd leave the rest as is. There are people on this forum who aspire to your kitchen.

I don't know what color Reno-gray is but, generally speaking, warm wood tones like your floor and gray just isn't a good combination.

A good rule of thumb is once 'a look' starts showing up in displays at Lowes, HD, Menard's, the Fat Lady has sung on that trend.

Assuming that you're intending to paint existing cabinets...If that is a factory finish in good shape, I wouldn't touch them with paint. Painting the cabinets is labor intensive and expensive if professionally done and the resulting finish will be inferior to the factory finish. Change the pulls, paint the walls and add a floor runner instead. Will be a lot less expensive and much faster way to change the look.

The whole kitchen is going. Cabinets, floors, black granite. Sorry - pictures don’t do it justice but they need replacing. We are doing tile in the kitchen.

Should also mention we are doing white quartz.. that part has been decided.

What is so awful about that that needs 60K thrown at it? And if it’s falling apart, it sure doesn’t look it in the pics.

The cabinet doors look like these cabinets could be from cheap flat-packs that were available at Home Depot 20 years ago. I like the overall look, even though it isn't the current trend.

Sorry, I have no advice to give for a gray kitchen. What's wrong with the flooring?

We just did a similar look in our kitchen - white uppers and dark grey lowers. We matched the small full height pantry to the upper cabinets.

I would just replace the countertops & invest the rest of the $ ... but I’m biased since I was once a financial planner. IMO, you’re just replacing with something that’s already considered out of style ( where I live anyway ).

We should all trust that the kitchen needs to be updated. I agree with the others - keep the pantry wall all one color. Use the darker color on the bottom cabinets and island. Not familiar with reno grey. Consider other colors such as dark blue.

In our new kitchen we also are doing two tone. Our base cabinets, Island, pantry wall are a dark charcoal almost black colour. Our upper cabinets on the range wall are white. We chose ocean foam for quartz which is a white colour but not perfectly white. I’ll post pics tomorrow when kitchen install is done.

We chose to do the tall cabinets the wall cabinet color here, to keep things lighter in a relatively small space. The blue gray was used on the island and perimeter base cabinets only.

The Cook's Kitchen - that is lovely! In hindsight, would it have been possible to deepen the upper cabinet over the fridge? That's my only negative, the colors are lovely together - heartwarming contrast - and I really like the fans.

OB, thanks for the kind words. Overall, I’m mostly very pleased with the outcome of that project. Some jobs have to abide by the homeowner’s specific wishes. The fridge portion was one of those specific wishes. In a perfect world, choices could be made that didn’t domino with other impacts. :)
